US Health Insurance vs. Global/International Insurance
« on: April 03, 2016, 07:44:54 PM »
Has anyone looked at the pros and cons of maintaining US health insurance coverage versus taking out a global/international insurance coverage with the likes of BUPA or CIGNA.  We are Americans residing in the UK.  We are covered under NHS and BUPA in the UK.  But as we would like to have the option of having treatment in the US.  Is the better way to take out US health insurance in addition, or to convert our UK BUPA to Global BUPA or similar global programs?

No idea myself. I just permanently withdrew from our US health insurance since I am not planning on returning to the US. If I go back for a visit I'll just get temporary coverage. Permanently keeping the US insurance was a waste of money for us.

I guess it depends on your income/savings level. It sounds like an expensive option to carry both UK BUPA and US health insurance, and pay for flights and accommodation.

Perhaps the first step would be to speak to BUPA about your options?
