Travelling to US when US passport expires in 3 months
« on: May 06, 2016, 09:25:02 AM »
Hi all,

My wife is planning to take the kids to the US at the end of the month, however their (the kids') passports expire at the end of August. Here are a few details:

- The kids are 9 & 12, and are dual UK/US citizens (both born in US, moved to UK in 2009)
- Their UK passports are valid for another couple of years.
- We have an appointment at the US embassy for passport renewal in a week o so (but it is my understanding that we won't get the new documents on the day....will we?)

What are your thoughts? Can this work, or are we going to face difficulty?

As they are US citizens, there passport only needs to be valid the day they are entering.  They can renew while in the US if they want.  Personally, I'd wait to renew until they are back.

If you pay extra, you can get the passports done on the day at the embassy.
