Another checklist - appointment Friday
« on: May 25, 2016, 08:02:26 AM »
Finally have made it to the point of having a final checklist for my FLR(M) appointment Friday.  I am pretty certain we have everything ready to go but I can’t help but have that feeling like we are missing something.  So please can the kind people of this forum please look over this checklist to see if we have everything we need.

Passports (both)
Two passport photos (me)
One passport photo (him)
Marriage certificate
Correspondence (every 4 months for two years - May 2014-May 2016)
        NHS letter (me)
   Water bill (him)

   HSBC (both)

   HSBC (both)

   Council tax (both)

   Water (both)

   Council tax (both)

Financial requirement (cat A)
Letter from his employer stating amount earned, length of employment, length of getting current salary (he didn’t get a contract so can’t include that).
   6 months’ payslips
6 months bank statements corresponding to payslips

Completed application (all 75 pages of it!)

I think that is all, I am having to do this from memory as the paperwork is at home and I am at work but hopefully that covers it all.

We are bringing extra items with us just in case such as:
All of my financials as well (letter from employer, payslips, bank statements, contract)
Tenancy agreements (we have had two since I moved over)
P-60s for both of us
Extra photos
Copies of everything

Thanks again for all the help you guys have provided, it truly is priceless!  :)

Kristina

You still need to meet the accommodation requirement for FLR so include the lease in the main pile for handing over.

I don't think it would hurt to put his P60 in the main pile too.

Great!  Will move over both items tonight.

Do we have to include copies of everything?

Do we have to include copies of everything?

I know a lot of people have said that they didn't bother and just as many seem to have done so, so it's really up to you.
I would, but that's just me!  ;)

Do we have to include copies of everything?

If applying by post, you should include copies of everything you want returned.

You don't need to make copies if you have an in-person appointment, but you can if you want. I've had two in-person appointments (Dec 2012 and Nov 2014, so not exactly recent) and we did not take copies. No one said anything about it or made it into an issue. We could see them making copies of our docs before approving us and we got all our originals back (besides anything addressed to them).

Thanks for the reply!  I won't bother with making copies as some documents (tenancy) are bound and I'd rather not make copies. :)

Another quick question: my 6 pieces of documents addressed to both of us. I have them dated within 4 month periods (May-Sept 2014; Sept 2014-Jan 2015; etc) for the last two years. Is this correct?
For example:
May-Sept 2014
May 2014 NHS letter (mine)
Aug 2014 Water bill (his)

Sept-Jan 2015
Sept 2014 HSBC (both)

Jan - May 2015
Jan 2015 HSBC (both)

May-Sept 2015
Council tax (both)

Sept 2015-Jan 2016
Water bill (both)

Jan 2016-May 2016
Water bill (both)

Is this what they want to see?

Sorry for this, just having last minute jitters I think. I was confident until today!

If you have seperate documents, they really should be dated as close to each other as possible - to show you were both in the property in the same month.

So, your separate documents from May 2014 and August 2014 are too far apart, and the August one is too close to the joint September 2014 one.

You really want something like:

May 2014 - NHS letter (yours)
May/June 2014 - something else from him (his)

Sept 2014 HSBC (both)

Jan 2015 HSBC (both)

Date? Council tax (both) - should be dated around May 2015

Date? Water bill (both) - should be dated around Sept 2015

Date? Water bill (both) - should be dated around Jan 2016

Optional extra: 1 joint or 2 separate letters from April or May 2016 to finish up the 2 years, even though that's 7 documents each... if you don't have a second document for May 2014, you could use documents from May 2016 instead.

I submitted letters exactly 4 months apart from each other but we were applying by mail so I felt we needed to be super careful.

Thank you. I knew I was not understanding this correctly.
This is what I have so far:
May 2014- HSBC (both)
Sept 2014 - HSBC (both)
Jan 2015 - HSBC (both)
May 2015 - HSBC (both)
Sept 2015 - Council tax (both)
Jan 2016 - HSBC (both)
May 2016 - water bill (both)

I know there is a lot from the bank but all the other bills we get are from other months of the year so getting them to be equally spaced is difficult. I have plenty of documents addressed to both of us just not at the right time of year. Is this ok seeing as the third type of document is the seventh document?

Sept 2015 - Council tax (both)
Jan 2016 - HSBC (both)
May 2016 - water bill (both)

Those should be fine - but you will definitely need to include the May 2016 document, because you won't have enough sources if you don't (unless you can replace one of the HSBC documents with something else).

You could either give them all 7 documents, or you could take out the May 2014 one and just start from September 2014.

As you are applying in person you can take all 7 with you and then give them whichever ones they need.

This is great news!
I was beginning to panic as I was really having a hard time finding documents for those months.

In my search I was also able to find for the Sept.2014 a water bill (him) dated Aug and an Npower bill dated Sept; would this be ok as well?

It can't hurt to bring it.

Since you've got an in-person appointment, I'd pack the kitchen sink. ;)

You probably won't need any additional docs, but you'll probably feel better if you have them with you. Of they do ask for something, you'll be glad you brought it. :)
