Need help with supporting documents time frame
« on: June 23, 2016, 05:01:30 PM »
Hello!

I am from the U.S. and my Fiance is a British Citizen... I will be applying for the Fiance Visa... Here is the thing and In a bit of a small frustration about all of the sudden seeing 28 days to send financial supported documents when the visa application is filled out and paid. I haven't sent my application in yet because I thought it all had to be gathered and then sent out. My question is my fiance's banking statements and banking letter are over the 28 day mark. It took the bank 2 weeks to send all of that to him and I was, wondering if it had to be updated and printed again? Also, our immigration home inspection was done in Feb.2016 does that date matter as well? What supporting documents have to be in the 28 day range? My Fiance works 60+ hrs a week so it's hard trying to do this all at once. I am Trying to figure this all out as we don't want a refusal upon us. Thank You for any help on this matter

The 28 days is from the date you apply online and it applies to bank statements and payslips (although ideally the other documents like letters should be dated as close to the online application date as possible).

So you gather the documents, apply online/pay within 28 days of the date of the most recent documents, and then you attend biometrics and finally mail everything to Sheffield within 5 days of the biometrics appointment.

It took the bank 2 weeks to send all of that to him and I was, wondering if it had to be updated and printed again?

Can he not just go into the bank tomorrow and ask them to print an updated statement out for him? That way it will have the current date on it and then he can overnight it to you and it will still be dated within 28 days.

That's what I did when I was applying for a mortgage a few months ago - went into the bank and they printed 3 months of bank statements for me on the spot.

There is no need to get a home inspection report for the visa, so you don't even need to send it.

- If he owns his home, you only need to send his Land Registry Document and latest original mortgage statement.

- If he rents, you only need the original tenancy agreement and a letter from the landlord giving you permission to live there too

- If you will be living with family or friends, all you need is a letter of invitation from them stating the house will not be overcrowded, their land registry document and their latest mortgage statement (but this last one is optional)

His most recent bank statement and payslip. The bank statement MUST show the deposit of the payslip.

Hello and welcome to the forum mdamiani.  :)

Essentially it is the financial evidence which must be dated within 28 days of the online application being submitted and paid for so bank statements, payslips and ideally the employer letter too.

Have you submitted the online application yet?

I have not submitted my online application and as far as I know they won't print the statements at the bank.

That's good because you will now have time to get everything together properly and ask all your questions now that you've found us!  ;D

Check with the bank to be sure, most will do this for you.

He can but if he does that, they still have to be stamped by the bank and/or accompanied by a letter verifying their authenticity.

There is a suggested supporting documents list on the UKVI website, but it's not very clear and not everything will apply to you (and some things aren't on there).

Best thing to do would be to post a list here of what you have and then we can advise on whether anything is missing or if you have anything you don't need.

Thank you so much! Can my fiance just print off statements from his online banking?
Yes, but as mentioned, they will need to either be stamped/signed by the bank on every page, or accompanied by a letter of authenticity from the bank.

The guidance states:

Quote

3.3.4. Bank statements must be on official bank stationery. Alternatively, electronic bank statements can also be accepted for all bank accounts (the account itself does not have to be exclusively online) as long as they are either accompanied by a letter from the bank on its headed stationery confirming that the documents are authentic or which bear the official stamp of the issuing bank on every page.

You don't need your birth certificate.
His passport copy should be certified, he can have that done at the Post Office.

You need the 6 months of pay slips corresponding with the 6 months of bank statements.
Letter from employer.

If your mother/sister are renting, you will still need a letter from their landlord granting the two of you permission to live there.

As previously mentioned, a home inspection report is not required.

no problem at all. fiance got a house rental for us and will just be just us  living in the house. Landlord said they would write a letter for us but have yet to reply to any text for it. so I was told tenancy agreement should be fine.

Oh, I see, if you are not going to be living with the mother/sister then don't include the letter from them.
If it is your own place the tenancy agreement will be enough as long as both of your names are on it.
