I definitely looked at the fireplace...  But a warm blanket and a stiff drink warmed me up!

Really? I'm not finding it cold at all (and I'm normally a 'cold' person - I usually wear 3 layers at work in an office).

My heating has been turned off since mid-May and for the last few weeks I've been sleeping in shorts and a t-shirt, with the window open all night, and my thinnest quilt, which I keep kicking off because I'm too hot!

It's still 20-22 degrees this week, which is about average for July/August, and about 25 degrees and sunny by the weekend.

Haha. It's definitely not that nice here in Wales. Below 20 and raining.

Bloody miserable. Especially after returning from a trip home to the Deep South a few weeks ago.

I was wrapped up in a blanket last night while watching TV on the couch, but I also had several windows open and there was a cool breeze blowing through.  I hate hot weather and would always prefer it to be like this!

It's been pretty warm here in North Norfolk, highs in the low 20s most days, some showers but mostly dry.  Pretty ideal really!  Certainly haven't remotely needed any heating!

I'm a wimp......sitting at the computer with a heating pad on the chair. I turn the heat up in the house....my wife turns it down. One of the requirements of moving back to N Yorkshire was that I was not going to set the heat down too low and be cold all the time.....I had enough of that when I was younger.

I've been chilly most days. Right now my fingernails are slightly purple and it's 57 F outside. That's colder than I keep the house in winter!

Not going to lie, I did go outside without a coat on the dog walk this morning, but that's because if I do I get too hot and start sweating in my coat. *sigh* I just can't win here.

I do miss the sunny, hot and dry summers of Western Colorado. I don't miss the fact that it's over 100 all summer... but the dry heat was so much more bearable.

And in winter I miss the snow...
The usual. American girl meets British guy. They fall into like, then into love. Then there was the big decision. The American traveled across the pond to join the Brit. And life was never the same again.

start sweating in my coat.

Very confusing right now. Shops are troublesome....stroll in wearing a light jacket...feeling fine....into a boiler room...

I just hope that more people will ignore the fatalism of the argument that we are beyond repair. We are not beyond repair. We are never beyond repair. - AOC

We've had our heating on in the north of Scotland, just yesterday actually and we have a new house with great insulation.    Been a total crap summer up here. Rain and cold.  Rain and cold.    Temps dropped a fair bit in the greenhouse last night too, lots and lots of condensation, actually looked frosty!!  :o

Right now, I'm reading this with interest since I'm already melting in Houston. It's 8am with 91% humidity and 89F. My daughter started summer marching band practice last month and this morning she was literally crying because the first half of practice is on the field from 7am until 12pm and inside from 1pm until 5pm until the school year begins at the end of August. Apparently, they've had their best practice yet yesterday when only 5 kids out of 350 fainted from the heat! My kid was one of the five *sigh* I reminded her that this will all looked upon fondly when we move back to England after her graduation in 2019. I showed her this thread to encourage her. She then said, "You're basically telling me I'm screwed wherever I live!" Lol

I am with Ksand24, typically I'm a cold person but have had the windows open daily and sleeping with them open.  Haven't had heat on since who knows when. I sit outside most lunches as well.  Been so hot in our flat, we went to America for a week and came back to a jar of coconut oil completely liquified that was on the counter.

It's the back and forth that kills me.  Sunday was lovely.  We played outside all weekend (daughter is 2).  I was applying sunscreen like a mad woman (I fry just by stepping into the sun).  Then Monday rolled along and it was a high of 16 and rain.  Today has been like walking in a steam shower but grey.  I actually find this time of the year really hard here!

We've not had the heating on since end of May, although we've considered it a few times.  Temperature in the house hasn't dropped below 18 before going to bed.  At 18 it certainly feels a bit nippy. (8:15pm at present and it is 21 inside, 18 outside)
