My lawyer didn't arrange or tell us till now to do it and so they need it to send the visa to us. I figured out how to email the awb and so after 6 hrs fighting with it I've got it. I'm ready to be done with this.
Honestly, this is why I don't recommend using a lawyer unless your situation is very complicated and requires legal arguments to convince UKVI that you should be given a visa (i.e. you have serious criminal convictions or have illegally worked/overstayed in the UK in the past).
If you do it yourself, you know you sorted everything out and that all the information is being transmitted quickly and efficiently between you and UKVI, without having to rely on a third party to be reliable.
Also, all the information you need about how to apply and the documents required can be found for free on the UKVI website and here on the forum, without having to pay for a lawyer. We've unfortunately found that many lawyers don't know what they are talking about because they have very little actual experience with filing UK settlement visa applications from overseas, and so have been known to give very bad advice - which, had it been taken, would have resulted in a visa refusal. So, we only recommend two immigration advisers/lawyers here on the forum, who specialise in settlement applications made in the US: Laura Devine (offices in London and NYC) and Medivisas (office in London).
