Absentee Voting questions
« on: October 19, 2016, 04:27:57 PM »
Sorry I can't find a separate area for this. i've done my ballot, which was emailed to me. The instructions mention a "Carrier Envelope (PDF)" but I didn't get anything like that. The instructions also say I can just include the signature sheet (PDF) which was included, with the ballot in an ordinary envelope. Is this correct? Seems a bit "loose" to me.

Thanks.

You might want t contact your sate as each state is different.  We vote in MA and we have to do it all by email. They email the ballot and supporting documents we have to print them all out mark our vote and sign the declaration then scan and email all back to MA.

Definitely contact your local Board of Elections.  In Ohio, they mail you a ballot with special envelope into which you place your completed ballot and return by mail.

I received my ballot by email but had to mail it in in a special envelope. Our instructions told us to print out the envelope and make it ourselves by folding and taping! It seems pretty absurd to me (why couldn't we just cut the labels out and tape them on an existing envelope??) but it's not like Kentucky is on the cutting edge of anything.

It's only postage paid if mailed in the US. You will need to pay for a stamp.  :)

I have a ballot that is 15ft long. Well, perhaps not quite that long. I can mail it, fax it or email it.

Mail it - don't trust mailing important things to the US. Already lost several checks over the years. Arizona has now become a battleground state so this *must* get there. Don't want to pay for a courier though.

Fax it - my fax machine cannot handle a long document - it just reads in 11" then says paper jam.

Email it - I can't scan such a long document, so I am scanning both sides in two stages then using an image editor to put them back together. But if one part is ever so slightly wonky then I am afraid they won't be able to use the final image in the ballot machine reader thingy-ma-jig. And then my scanner crashed during the fourth scan...

What a huge pain in the ass.  ::) ::) ::)

Are you able to check the status online and know that it is received and accepted?  You can for the state of Florida (no matter what county).

I mailed my ballot to Arizona, can't remember how much it cost.  I did get an email telling me it was received.

I printed mine out on regular UK paper and used a magnifying glass to fill it in.  Admittedly, it was a bit of a mess .  If Trump wins Arizona by one absentee vote, we'll blame the metric system.

Dude, don't forget to vote for legalisation!

I only vote federal as I have never found anything written down that confirms if I vote state/local Arizona won't use that to consider me a resident for tax purposes. I haven't sent it yet, so if you can point me to clear confirmation that would be very nice. I've searched many times to try and find an answer but failed.

Sorry, I don't have any specialist knowledge in that area so can't give you any real advice.

Personally, I didn't worry about it and just voted.  If Arizona wants to screw with me for taxes, they can join the back of the queue.

A bit off topic but does anyone still get an "I Voted" sticker with their ballots? I mailed my ballot in earlier this week but will be wearing my sticker with pride on election day still!
