Everyone asked today "what the hell happened?" It's like I'm here to explain Trump. Anyone else getting that?

I try to just smile and wave, it's the tax we pay for living in this interesting place.  The good news is that we've already left the country so there's no need to flounce off in a huff.

My colleagues were all very kind in checking on me. I started sobbing just before briefing, got sent for a cup of tea to reset, and someone else covered my form. I just muddled through and came straight home and to bed.

I dislike talking politics anyways, so I just kept things short and sweet. I think by doing so, they kinda got the gist that I didn't want to discuss it. I was tempted just to say "I'm Canadian" to stop all the questions. Where I'm originally from in Ohio, all one has to do is swim across Lake Erie and bam, you're in Canada. Close enough...

Lol I have a mixture of Hoosier and Wisconsin accent, so many people think I'm Canadian. I really want to lie and claim to be from Canada. My standard response is "I'm American, but don't hold it against me."

Jeez, I hesitate to sound like I'm having a go at you, but that's really taking it pretty hard!

I'm not getting myself too worked up because I've seen all the Bushes get elected during my political life and they all seemed at the time to be almost as much of a disaster as this election.  The world went on and it's going to keep going on hopefully.   Every generation thinks that the music of the youth is sponsored by the devil.

Don't pay any attention to him JessLynn. I don't think he can understand where you're coming from.

I cried too and I ended up with a migraine. Going on day 3 now.

We just elected a man who freely admitted to sexually assaulting women while his mic was hot. We are already seeing men treating women like they are things using his exact words as they do it. He also wants to take away reproductive choices.

We are seeing children chanting "build a wall' at their middle school class mates.

Jimbocz,

Take a look at these tweets from Wednesday. They make me sick to my stomach.
Day 1 in Trump's America
https://twitter.com/i/moments/796417517157830656

It's horrifying. We thought the US was past all this, but it's worse than we ever thought.
The usual. American girl meets British guy. They fall into like, then into love. Then there was the big decision. The American traveled across the pond to join the Brit. And life was never the same again.

That's not fair, I dislike all this racism and sexism as much as the next person.  I'm also very unhappy to have to admit to myself that half of America is willing to vote for racist policies. I've got a lot of thinking to do about my future relationship with the US and what I'm going to tell my kids.

I was just suggesting that crying and being physically sick about it for three days is maybe not a healthy reaction.  I'm no shrink, but it might be worth exploring ways of dealing with political dissatisfaction in better ways.

Anyway, sorry to hear about your migraine and hope you feel better.
