Current FLR processing times?
« on: December 08, 2016, 11:26:30 AM »
I am about to start the process of filing for my FLR and would rather not have to pay £500 extra for an in-person appointment. However, I don't want to be without my passport for too long, and was wondering what current processing times are?

About 8 weeks.  I'd make sure you don't have travel plans for about 3 months, just so you have a buffer.

Honestly, I think £500 is really excessive.  If you don't NEED to do it in person, I would do it by post.

It's supposed to be processed within 8 weeks but we had one member's FLR take 20 weeks recently.  :o

If you are going to apply by post, I wouldn't make any travel plans at all until you have your visa.

One of the reasons I decided to apply in person is I have travel plans for xmas and also at the end of March, so if I sent mine in end of December given some recent cases it was actually possible I wouldn't have mine back at the end of March. If you have planned travel, then it is worth it to go in person.

Thanks, I don't have any travel plans. 8 weeks is doable, 20 weeks is far too long though. Hopefully if it's straightforward it won't bee that long!
