doing normal UK job based in the USA for 3 months
« on: December 08, 2016, 05:00:31 PM »
My UK work have agreed to let me be based in California for 3 months, hooray! I would be receiving my normal British salary as a UK citizen, doing the same work from a desk in a Californian academic institution who have agreed to host me and offered to write an invite letter. So I am thinking under 90 days on a normal ESTA.

Does that sound legal, or might it require a visa? I have frequently come in to the USA for 1-2 weeks for academic purposes with no issues, and more recently to see fiancée also with no issues, but never for longer than a month. Should I just be upfront at the US border that I will be saying with fiancée as well as doing an academic visit? Thinking letters from both work places might be good (?)

With many thanks once again to all the generous folks on this forum!

I'd ask this question at www.britishexpats.com, as this forum is focussed on US expats coming to the U.K.

Good luck:)
