For the bakers...
« on: December 24, 2016, 04:04:03 PM »
What are some of your favorite cookies to bake around the holidays? My staples, which I switch up every year, are kitchen sink Christmas cookies (a Paula Deen recipe- has toffee bits, Rice Crispies cereal, oatmeal and coconut), buckeye candies, millionaire's shortbread and mince pies. I also make cut out sugar cookies with frosting- hubby has a huge sweet tooth but isn't really a frosted cookie fan, so he usually passes on those.

Growing up (and still to this day), my mom always made jam thumbprint aka bird's nest cookies, snowballs and peanut butter blossoms so I occasionally make those too.

I have not yet mastered cookies although I was able to muster up a bunch of red velvet crinkle cookies this morning. I also made festive chocolate fudge and a pumpkin cheesecakw for tomorrow.

Could you please share how you make buckeyes? :-)

Mix together peanut butter, powdered sugar, soft butter and vanilla extract and roll it into balls. Dip 3/4 of the ball in melted semisweet chocolate and chill in fridge. Very easy. I think they're largely an Ohio thing.

My go to is cut out sugar cookies, our five year old loves decorating them..though we usually throw half away as we can't eat them all
