I've been reading through these last few messages, and I can't remember if I ever included my IHS reference number on my applications!!!

I know I included all of my payment receipts....but was there a place to include it on the actual online application?  I'm in a straight panic at the moment.

I think if you included your receipt it should be okay.  I read that even forgetting to write it all together is okay because you cant schedule biometrics without having paid.  I cant remember but I dont think you can submit the online application without paying either, its all a blur for me though it was just in January.  I think its probably a requirement that was more for before applications went to the online system and maybe never changed, not sure.  However, l read you just write it on the application but there is no specific place to put it, people apparently write it at the top of the page.

No place to put it if I remember correctly so including the receipt is fine! I didn't know till last night that you could write it on the application at the top as well! But I only put the receipt in and I was approved :)

The IHS surcharge has only been in place since April 2015, but applications have been made online for at least 10 years (I think).

Not everyone has to pay the IHS surcharge - it's only for visas valid more than 6 months and even then there are some exemptions, However, you usually still need to generate an IHS number even if you don't have to pay... and that number must be included in the application... otherwise they can't issue the visa. If it's been included on the receipt that should be fine.

There are two different payments:

- the visa fee, paid online on the visa4uk website... this is the one that confirms you have paid for the visa and allows to book biometrics

- the IHS surcharge, paid online on a different website, which you are directed to when you submit the online application

Visa APPROVED!  I shed a tear (or three of joy).  I requested a travel date of March 11th, and they gave me March 30 - Apr 29.  I got my decision made email on the 23rd, so my travel dates begin one week after approval.

Our final timeline:

Priority spousal visa
Online application submitted:  February 21, 2017
Biometrics completed:  February 24, 2017
Documents shipped:  February 24, 2017
Confirmation of receipt/processing from Sheffield:  February 27, 2017
Request for more info from Sheffield:  March 21, 2017
Decision made email:  March 23, 2017
Approved visa received:  March 27, 2017

Will be sending positive thoughts to everyone still waiting.

I hope the travel dates work for you.  It annoys me that they just pick a window!   ;)
