Greetings. In February my wife was offered a job back home in England. As soon as we got back I began the process of applying for a spouse settlement visa, working with an attorney in New York. I submitted online on March 9, did biometrics on Monday and shipped the bundle that day. It arrived in Sheffield yesterday, March 16. Signed for by Steenson but no official email yet to me or the attorney about being logged in. So I'm waiting now like all of you. And it's kind of hard. As you all know.

I'm hoping ours is a pretty straightforward application. We went the savings route because my wife doesn't begin work until August. When she does it will pay very well but until then we will rely on the savings which were twice the minimum required. She is a UK national and I'm a US citizen.

It's exciting but anxiety ridden too.

Another end of week with no word from Sheffield.  Looks like my husband will be flying without me next week.  This Monday will be the last possible day I can hear and possibly get my docs and visa back before flight on Thursday.  Looking like plan b goes into effect (I stay behind at my daughter's house till visa gets sorted.  Sigh.

On a brighter note the house sale closed without a hitch today and after costs our profits are about 10k higher than we had figured.  Selling the house was actually the biggest hurdle and that's done.
I'm sorry that you can't travel together.  It's difficult not having a good idea of timing.  But I suppose each day must be a bit closer.  Congratulations on the closing of your home!

Thanks.  It's odd though, now that my staying behind is looking like a certainty, I'm a lot more relaxed.

Beginning to wonder if they are short staffed as the annual leave year ends on 31st March and the ECO's might be using up their holiday before they lose it?

UK Government had an annual leave year of April-March? Weird.
The usual. American girl meets British guy. They fall into like, then into love. Then there was the big decision. The American traveled across the pond to join the Brit. And life was never the same again.

Maybe, or they might have had an influx of applications ahead of the visa fee increases which are due in April.

Normally the short-staffing happens in the summer holidays and over Christmas though, rather than this time of year. Plus not all companies have the leave year ending in March... I work for a government organisation and for our leave year they go by the month you were born in (my birthday is in May so my leave year runs May 1st to April 30th). On the other hand, my mum's company's leave year runs Jan 1st to Dec 31st.

I mean, it's possible, but I wouldn't be too sure. My husband's job only allows a certain percentage of people to be off on leave at the same time, and a lot of other employed friends here have similar policies at work.  I doubt the office is just sitting there empty.

FLR (M) Approved 17 Sep 2019 (Super Priority)

My company does annual leave cased in start date, so mine runs 2 March to 1 March. The guy next to me is 11 August - 10 August. Like ksands said it's more likely due to the influx of applications before fees rise. Have we heard anything about the fees yet?

I haven't seen anything regarding fees so far - I tried Googling it the other day and only the 2016/2017 fees came up.
