My wife Rachelle picked hers up from UPS office this morning and is now booked on a flight this evening landing at LHR tomorrow lunchtime After the disappointment and cost of getting it wrong the first time we applied, I can't overstate what a relief it is to finally get to this point where we can actually enjoy our married life together. This site has been invaluable both for the mutual support through the nerves of waiting and also for the excellent advice that people like KFdancer and Ksand so generously provide.
Priority application
Online application 24th Feb
Biometrics and dispatched 28th Feb
Receipt email from UKVI 2 March
Decision email 28th March

Reunited 31 March

Oh, my very best wishes to both of you.  My husband and I have been married over 20 years, and we've only been separated a week and it's driving us nuts.  But I do quite enjoy the mushy emails.

Wow, a flight that fast! If you don't mind my asking, how did you get a reasonable flight on such short notice?

Longish story but after getting first visa application refused because we had not sent in my divorce certificate and enough of my notarised pay and bank statements, My wife flew over for a second wedding celebration with our UK family and friends on a one way ticket through her air miles. Was stopped at immigration because of refusal flag but was able to persuade them to let her through.
After 2 weeks she flew back to restart the application process and booked a return ticket through Delta. We selected a date of 28th March for return. Once it was clear we were not going to hit that date, she rang Delta and they said that she could hold credit on the return flight and today she used that credit plus a $200 dollar charge for the difference in the fare to book today's flight. We expected to be fleeced but Delta were very good about it.

After waiting at the window and pacing around the house for hours on end, the UPS truck finally showed up and my visa has been approved! FINALLY!

Also sometimes booking a same day flight can be VERY reasonable.  The airlines don't want empty seats so it can be cheaper than waiting a couple of weeks.

When my husband and I were just dating I visited him a couple times and only booked a day or two ahead--it was off peak season so it was super cheap!  (Like, $600 for a roundtrip on Virgin.)  Always worth looking for the next day or day of if you have your visa in hand.

Yeah I once got a return in September booked 48 hours before with us airways with 348 dollars  ;D

Before my husband got his current job and we have all the ba air miles I just always used skyscanner.com and booked whatever was cheapest! Now we just use ba air miles mostly! My return flight includes two bags and was only 100 dollars!

Signing up for reward miles or a credit card with reward miles pays of massively. We can't wait to use the miles to be visiting my family instead of each other!!

I received a refusal today, but boy is it ever a Sheffield error.  I posted a separate topic if you'd like to read the details.

Down in the dumps.

Flights are booked!!!  I know in my head it hasn't actually been that long, and when all is said and done we will have been apart 44 days. But let me tell you, 44 days with a 5 year old boy who is a major Daddy's boy has been hard!! Thanks everyone for the advice and support, I would not have remained sane without it.

Katoo- my heart just hurts for you. I know I can't do anything to fix it or make it better but I hope you manage to figure out what happened and it gets resolved quickly!!

Karoo, I am so very sorry. Its disappointing in the best of circumstances to have to wait, but what a horrible error. I will stay positive and send you good thoughts that this is expedited quickly for you.

It's been quiet on here. I'm assuming no one else has heard anything recently?  My email confirmation date was March 15th. So I'm hoping to hear perhaps this week or early next.

I received an email confirmation on March 18 for my priority settlement visa package, but no word yet. Given what other folks here are reporting, I'm afraid it'll be at least another week or two-perhaps more. Continuing to be patient for that much longer will be a challenge. But, what other choice do we have.

Yeah, priority seems to be about 4-5 weeks at the moment.  It's possible it could go a bit longer due to Easter holidays and the time of year (more applications).  Try to sit tight.  I know it's easier said than done!
