Worst case scenario, you start putting feelers out without telling the business and if they did somehow lay you off (which I imagine is unlikely) you'll have a head start in the job hunt. Best case scenario, you get offers from other companies you aren't interested in and you can reject the offers because you aren't in a rush to jump ship :)

That's true. I think the type of experience I could get with other companies would be better in the long run anyway. The role I am currently in is much more about oversight rather than actually doing the work so it would be nice to get current with the skills again.

Just look at it as the irritation you needed to move someplace that might be able to support you better with skill development. Like I said, the positive things is that - at the moment - you can afford to be picky with any offers because you don't need to take the first thing that comes along!

I don't think the end of April has been great for many people. I was in A&E last week myself.

I hope you're feeling better and can find the new role that's perfect foe you!
The usual. American girl meets British guy. They fall into like, then into love. Then there was the big decision. The American traveled across the pond to join the Brit. And life was never the same again.

So today we finally got an answer on the issue that started this whole thing... We had a world leading expert on the subject matter deliver a training course this week on the subject and the sweetest thing; i was right all along.  Now the egg is well and truly on their faces as the customer and supplier were there at the same course when i used the example to start the discussion.  VINDICATED!!!!

It is a rare thing to have this kind of vindication.  You must relish it for all of the people who have been in your frustrating position but never get to see this satisfying resolution.  I feel like congratulations are in order.   [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

Cheers. I also have a new job (although they don't know that yet); with the supplier who was grinning ear to ear with today's news.  I am indeed relishing it and the fact that they paid a metric f ton to arrange this!
