I hasn't considered that but I'll give them a call tomorrow and see what they say. I'm not overly worried about it because I'm not wanting to leave until July anyways. But it would be nice to get it done a few days earlier and get it off my hands.

I'll share my biometrics story...I thought it was funny. I'm in Orlando and the address was something that ends in a 6. I get there, it's like a business park. I park the car get out and find the door that says application processing center or something like that...address ends in 8, so I walk down to the next door....ends in a 4. I'm like ??? - so open the 8 door and poke my head in and ask where ---6 is...the officer guy was like come in and he calls over his shoulder "we've got a British one!" ;)

After that I not only felt pretty cool and British but jumped the entire wait, and was in and out in 10 minutes. Pretty great!

I only wish I'd had that experience, Rachel! It was a long wait for me, although almost all the time was spent waiting to get into the right line. I wish I'd been able to skip past all of the people waiting for US immigration stuff.

I got an email from UKVI with a link to a survey to let them know how they are doing.  I think I'll wait a few weeks to fill it out, eh?

Why did yours get rejected, if you don't mind me asking? ANd how long until they told you? I'm now worried I did whatever it is you did!

My application arrived in Sheffield last Monday.  I know that with the two bank holidays, that there have been only 4 working days that it has been there.  I also know that it's taking 4-5 weeks for priority applications.  I also know that having gotten a refusal, most likely mine will take longer to process.

So tell me.  Why do I keep checking my email to see if a decision has been made?

Well, we qualified in every box but one.  The examiner did not feel convinced that we had a valid marriage.  No pictures, no letters, no cards.  We've been married twenty one years.  I foolishly thought our joint checking and savings accounts (to the same address) and our marriage certificate was enough.  This time I sent a whole slew of items-- pictures, emails, phone records, mortgage statements on three different houses, income tax returns, life insurance with each other as benefactors, 9 pictures spanning 20 years.  It was overkill, but I thought it was called for.

Oh crap, I didn't include pictures or letters either.  Just tax returns and the birth certificate of our son. But dear lord, as a non-American, I've had to apply for a visit visa every single time we had to go to the UK for holidays (pretty much every year for the last 4 years), for which my in-laws had to write a letter of invitation and accommodation, so hopefully they still have all of that on record!

Well, nothing we can do now but wait.

Our lawyers just got the package and are going to send it off to Sheffield soon.

It's been a long, long process. Now begins the back-breaking work of (continuing) packing, sorting, throwing away, giving away, shipping, etc. And to take care of the thousands of details involved in ending a life in one country and starting it in another.

We've just applied online today April 19 for my husband, myself and our 3 children. We are applying for a type II intra-company employee 3yr long term visa. PwC seems to think it will take 5-10 business days. They keep telling me we have plenty of time. I've been following along & see it takes about a month. Panic! We have plans to pick a house and schools May 15--but no tickets yet.

First available Biometrics was April 24 10am. We booked that and 11am since there are 5 of us.

You can try walking in early in the morning (with your letter), and they might squeeze you in then. It might save you a day or two of waiting.

The timelines here are for settlement visas that are processed in Sheffield.  Your visas are non-settlement (temporary) to the UK and processed out of NYC.  They'll be processed very very quickly.  Heck, 5-10 business days could even be considered long!   ;D

Will you be working for PwC?  I know lots of people there!

That is fantastic if true -- dare I hope! My husband works for Jaguar Land Rover & they hired PwC to review our applications and confirm we have received the correct visas. We're all US citizens & have never lived in the U.K. It should be an adventure!

Well, if they ask you to mail it to the British Consulate in NYC, then you'll know for sure. :) But yeah, non-settlement visas are settled by the consulate and are quite fast. Here's a guide on processing times: https://visa-processingtimes.homeoffice.gov.uk/y/united-states/points-based-system-visas/all
