I'm going absolutely crazy here, you guys. I'm a school librarian so my school year is coming to an end. I quit my job, put in my 30 days notice for my apartment and have to be out by May 31st. I'll literally be couch surfing until I fly to Europe on June 11th. I don't know what I'll do if I don't hear back from them - I'll be practically homeless!

I hate, hate, hate being in limbo. My hubby wrote his MP saying that I'll be homeless and jobless if we don't hear back soon and basically all we got back is I'm not running for reelection so you're SOL.

I feel sick every time I think about it and I'm constantly stressed out. It's caused a lot of tension in our relationship too.

I need to fly to Glasgow, and Norwegian only fly in the summer to EDI, and that route is sold out from JFK. That is about the same price as IcelandAir tbh -- I did try to use Norwegian once to go to Copenhagen but they canceled my flight without notifying me (I found out when calling re: gate), so I'm sort of anti.

I have been burned a couple of times by using travel sites, so I only book directly through airlines nowadays. I could fly to London and stay with friends, but then my husband has to take the train, which is expensive/time consuming, so I think shelling out $800-$1000 to go to Glasgow will be my best bet...I also need to check 3 bags, and at least on IcelandAir, it's only $180 extra. I thought about Thomas Cook but it seems like you can only have 2 checked bags with them.

If you're going to Glasgow try Thomas Cook. Really good deals!!l

Anxious, we must live nearby, I'm in Orlando. Where are you headed to in the U.K.?

Today ends week 5.  Today is the 27th working day.  I really thought I'd hear something this week.  I'm really getting despondent.  My husband has been in the U.K. Since 23 March.  The longest separation we've had before this ordeal was a two week business trip.  That's in 21 years.  Our texts since his departure has grown to thousands.  FaceTime has become awkward and sad.  I've done my very best to stay upbeat, but it's getting ridiculous.  I've run out of things to eat that I won't be able to get in the U.K.  Sick of Mexican food.  Tired of barbecue.  Weary of jumbo shrimp.  I keep reading here and it seems like I am the only one to have received a refusal since March.  And I worry I'm gonna get another one since it's taking so long.  I'm just a mess.

I'm going through it with you, girl. I feel crazy because my emotions are all over the place. I'm so done with Facetiming and texting all day. Just want to crawl into bed until I hear back. Stay strong!  [smiley=bigcry.gif]

Try and give Mexican another go because all they have over there is Old El Paso 🤢

Some of us have Mexican friends who either cook for us, or know which restaurants to go to in London. ;)

I plan on instituting a weekly Taco Tuesday to keep myself sane. Last summer I successfully made Mexican-style chorizo breakfast burritos, so I have faith that I could recreate it taco-wise. But what do I do for guacamole?? Haven't had a good batch in the UK, like ever.

Make it yourself! They've got not bad produce. The table side guac at restaurants is like 12 quid. Chipotle also has good guac over there.

What part of Hertfordshire will you be in? If this visa ever comes through, I'll be moving to Hitchin!

I know exactly how you feel. Lots of tension in mine, too, and lots of anxiety and stress for me on a personal level. I find I don't enjoy anything, don't look forward to anything here, and don't want to do much -- I can't focus for the worry. I have to be out May 31 and I go down a panicky spiral if I think about the what if's...

I'll try again this summer, but I think I'm a little spoiled with avocados in California  :P

I'm reading all these posts and can imagine the stress. To get married status here in Saudi we had to have our marriage certificate attested by the Saudi Embassy in the country where it was issued.  We got married in Cyprus (can highly recommend it as stress free) and there is no Saudi Embassy there! We had to have it re-issued, stamped by a couple of different departments in Cyprus, and then sent to Greece!

I know how hard it can all be, especially if you are coping on your own, but it will soon be sorted.  While I have been waiting I have been making plans for Christmas (!) and am trying to plan a celebration in the UK for when we are both there.  Anything to keep my mind occupied.

This is a horrible time, just waiting and not knowing, but in another few weeks it should all be sorted.  One member used the word "stalking" this web site - and that is exactly it.  Lots of info to be picked up.  And hopefully lots of support.

Hopefully next week will be the week for you all.
