We are going to settle in Southport, Merseyside.  I've been looking to see what is happening there and planning (to keep my mind occupied) for when we arrive.  They will be switching the Christmas lights on in Southport the week before Thanksgiving and the plan is we are going to invite family over and husband will do the cooking.  Our wedding anniversary is in September and I've found an Agatha Christie play that is on that night in the local theatre.  Just trying to plan and focus on the future.

I've been doing this too. Think ahead to Thanksgiving (mostly cause I'm hungry 24/7), and Christmas as well. We're thinking of visiting Germany for the Christmas markets. It'll be so nice to be able to do things together for a change. Live a normal life  [smiley=bigcry.gif]

I'm going absolutely crazy here, you guys. I'm a school librarian so my school year is coming to an end. I quit my job, put in my 30 days notice for my apartment and have to be out by May 31st. I'll literally be couch surfing until I fly to Europe on June 11th. I don't know what I'll do if I don't hear back from them - I'll be practically homeless!

I hate, hate, hate being in limbo. My hubby wrote his MP saying that I'll be homeless and jobless if we don't hear back soon and basically all we got back is I'm not running for reelection so you're SOL.

I feel sick every time I think about it and I'm constantly stressed out. It's caused a lot of tension in our relationship too.

If your relationship can survive the UK immigration process, you've got it made!  :)

In I'm tampa with family. I graduated from UCF, but in the UK I'll be in Hertfordshire, just North of London. If you want, you're more than welcome to meet up, I'm just gonna walk around and people watch and grab a drink!

My undergrad is from UCF!  I grew up in Clearwater and lived in Orlando for 8 years.   :)

I'm originally from Cocoa Beach and pretty much grew up at Disney World in the 70'a. (When it was affordable to go. Lol)

Thats my problem! Theres nothing to do. Im about an hour from Disney so I just asked my friend if he wanted to go to Downtown Disney for the day just because I need to get out of the house. I told myself this weekend Im going to start packing, and get writing a PhD proposal.

Basically, UPS shows up at my house around 3-4pm. So As soon as I get my passport back, Im going to book a ticket. If I got approved and the viginette isn't valid yet, Ill wait. But other than that, Im planning on leaving the same day it gets in, or 1 day after.

So wish I could do that. I really envy people staying with family and friends who can pick up and leave. Because we don't know if we'll get a rejection, I can't get rid of too much stuff yet. And because I need everything (internet, car, etc.) I can't arrange to have anything shut off. So...from the moment I get the visa in hand, it will take me a minimum of a week and likely close to two weeks before I can board a plane.

Sigh!

But thank you to those who corrected me about the corn on the cob!

Yeah, being on your own there makes it so much harder for you. I didn't have a whole lot of help when we were leaving but at least I had some.
You'll get there though and it'll be worth it in the end.  :)

You won't!   ;)  I so thought I was done with Florida but 7 years here has taught me that I didn't realise I used to live in paradise!

D'oh!!! My latest FaceTime call from my husband a few hours ago, he answered looking like a drowned rat just having got off the train. "Welcome to Glasgow!" he answered  8)

What kind of work do you do if you don't mind me asking. My parents (and soon me if I don't get this visa) live in Melbourne
