Hey AmericanMom! You and I are right on the same time frame. My documents got there on May 11th.  So you didn't pay for priority, but you're going to soon?? Im also considering this but didn't know how much of a difference it would make! I haven't looked through the whole string of comments so I've probably missed it, but does it seem that people who are paying extra for priority are getting their visas much quicker??

So it seems like they get put on the priority timeline as if they'd always been priority (does this make sense? If I never use the word priority after this I'll be happy lol).

I'm waiting till next week (payday) to gamble. I need to figure out what number everyone is calling to get updates.

I just can't fathom waiting 5 months, I don't think I can handle being away from my child that long. One of our children is with dad in the UK and one is back home with me in the US.

@getme2england

Currently, non-priority processing times are coming in at about 10-11 weeks.  Priority processing times are about 25 days.  So it's a fairly substantial difference! :)

Can you please explain like I'm 5: how did you upgrade?

I'd love to know how to do this too! I can't seem to be able to PM anyone, so any advice here would be appreciated. I applied non priority in April, and the wait is destroying my soul  :\\\'(

So the general instructions are:

1. Call the helpline (they will charge you by the minute). Can't remember offhand what the number is, but it's on the website.

2. Tell them you want to upgrade.  If they say no, ask to speak to a supervisor.

3. Supervisor should tell you how and should confirm the process.

4. You will then have to go to the VFS website and buy the priority service for $700.

5. You will have to email this receipt to the address given by the supervisor.

Other users have other tips and did other supplementary things, and others gambled a bit more, but this is the general process!

Thanks for sharing purplepeopleeater, I know those members who are considering upgrading will be grateful to see how you did it.  :)

Just to remind any newcomers though, although some of our members have successfully upgraded to priority after the fact, the official line is that  it is still not possible, so you will be doing it at your own risk.  :)

Can I purchase Priority Visa Service/Settlement Priority Visa Service if I have already submitted my application at the UKVI?

No, you cannot purchase the Priority Visa Service/Settlement Priority Visa service once you have submitted your application to the respective UKVI Consulate for processing.

Oh and yes, as Larrabee says, the official line is it's not possible!  So be aware that this is all a big GAMBLE!  I was at the point where I had made peace with the possibility that I was throwing away $700, so definitely be aware of that!

Absolutely true. However, 3 successful upgrades in the last month! That's 3 more than we thought would be possible.

Yes.  I just don't want anyone to go into it without realizing it's a risk though.  :)

One day they could just stop accepting the upgrades.

I'm shocked that they've accepted any at all. Maybe it's what KFdancer said, that UKVI will do anything for money. *sigh*

Yeah, but doing stuff for money is one thing. Technically, they shouldn't be doing it at all so it's all something that could stop at any point in time.

Also just to let everyone on here know, since a couple members have reported getting emails from Sheffield/decisions.

Average wait time for non-priority decision (23 May): 52.86 days

Median wait time for non-priority decision (23 May): 53 days

It hasn't seemed to change really since my last figure, but it has changed.

Unfortunately I still haven't gotten an email or updated UPS info which is really stressing me out more! Just the call center saying my decision was made Friday but if I hadn't called I still would have no info

Well that stinks! People have just not gotten emails/updates before, but I can't imagine the nerves you must have. I'd be eating all the ice cream just to calm myself.
