Welcome to perpetual waiting room, I've added you to the spreadsheet

I would recommend still looking into the process of moving over while you wait, like how much it'll cost to move your pets and furniture and maybe things you need to prepare ahead of time, just don't plan on doing it by a specific date  ;D

Ta vree much!

I suspect it is going to be expensive!

I looked into relocation for my cat before I even submitted my application hahaha.... I'm using Starwood Animal Transport but a few others have done it themselves and have gone through other companies. There's also a thread for Pets too!

http://talk.uk-yankee.com/index.php?board=60.0

hope that helps!

Thanks!  I have a cat and a dog.  I'm really panicked about my cat because he freaks out in his carrier.  I can't even get down the street without a major, erm, mess to clean up!

You should start now, trying to get kitty used to it. Mine hated it too but I read to try a little catnip and that seemed to work.

Good idea. None of my other cats were this bad. Journeys now usually result in a code brown. Urgh.

My dog was never crate trained but he injured himself in July and has just come off of 6 weeks crate confinement. When it happened, I thought at least it would be practice for the trip!

My vet actually gave me kitty Xanax to try for mine, because she's also super skittish in the crate thanks to a rough start in a shelter. There are also some treats that are meant to help. Apparently some cats react badly to the Xanax so I have to try it at home first just in case (they get extra edgy/jumpy if they have the bad reaction)

DH: what are you laughing at?
Me: the visa forum
DH: laughing? You usually empathy cry when you're on there...
Me: yes, but right now they're sharing kitty-drugging travel trips.

(I've heard you can use Dramamine for cats, but I've never tried it)

You won't be able to use Xanax for the actual trip. The airlines won't allow a sedated pet to fly because of the increased risk of death due to depressed respiration.

If the spreadsheet is still being kept, feel free to add me (USC) to the list....fwiw:

Online app completed: 9/7/17
Biometrics appt.:           9/11/17
Package sent via VFS:  9/13/17
UKVI receipt email:       9/15/17

I should start looking in to relocation of fur babies and furniture.  But I'm afraid to jinx the process!

My vet was pretty clear that this isn't sedation, it's an anti-anxiety med to keep them from freaking out while traveling. I have a 2 hr drive to the airport as well to keep her calm for. Obviously I will check to confirm, but I was clear it was a concern with flying and that's why they recommended this vs something else.

Does anyone know how long it takes for Sheffield to return visa/documents after decision has been made? Do you schedule UPS to pick up or do they automatically just put the label you paid for on the  envelope and ship it out?

Automatic.

Once shipped, its two days to most people.  Very rural may take three.
