Quick update on all of those who are looking for deals on flights, we managed to get a one way from NYC to LGW with Norwegian Air for $350 which included meals, two checked bags at 20KG each and hand luggage at 10kg. Funnily enough my return flight from London to NYC also with Norwegian Air (as I’m going to pick her up) was WAY WAY more than that!

Thanks for the tip! Waiting to hear on my visa but I've been worried about finding a good deal on flights. I just checked it out and even same day flights are pretty reasonable compared to other airlines.

Here's hoping we see some non priority applications being processed along with the priority applications.

Seems like the ECO's are ringing the applicants to confirm their job etc... Someone mentioned on another forum that they ring on a withheld number, is this the case?

No idea - I don’t believe anyone on the forum applying from the US has ever been called by an ECO.

I haven’t heard of them doing that for US applicants... the only people on this forum who have been called were applying from other countries, for which they do more thorough checks to confirm that the application details are legitimate, as those countries are more high-risk with higher instances of fraudulent applications.

Definitely ringing a high percentage of Pakistan applicants. Damn those fraudsters.

Hope this backlog clears quickly & processing times go back to normal. All this waiting is ruining people.

It's been really really quiet in here. Even in the NP thread. Come on Sheffield, the time for cat and mouse is over, deliver those visas!

Be careful with Norwegian! That's not 'no', just be careful. They have a much more limited fleet than other airlines and no partnerships on their long haul routes. If a plane gets taken out of service for any reason, it can have fairly dramatic consequences for their schedule - not just that flight, but the one after that, and after that, and after that...

Google 'Norwegian long haul delays' and have a read before you book. Every day together is precious for people doing the long-distance thing and having your trip cut short because a plane broke three days ago could be incredibly disheartening.
Online application: 29 June
Biometrics: 5 July
Package sent to UKVI: 5 July
Package arrived: 7 July
UKVI opened and confirmed receipt: 11 July
Decision email from UKVI: 2 October (59 BDs)
Passport returned 4 October - Approved!
Flight to UK: 14 October
Happiness: 15 October

No, but I was warned they had been having major problems with their long haul service by a friend in NYC who did get caught out on a work trip! I googled, read what I found and promptly booked on American instead.
