Unfortunately not - if you request your passport back, it cancels the entire application.

And that means you lose all the money you paid for it (except the IHS surcharge which will be refunded, if you had to pay it). Then you'll have to start over and re-apply from scratch, paying all the fees again.

Thanks ksand24 for the quick response. One more question please. Can i convert my application from Non Priority to Priority or Golden Priority?

Kind Regards,
Nikki

No, I'm afraid you can't do that either. They stopped allowing you to upgrade from non-priority to priority more than a year ago, and in order to do the Gold service, you cannot have already submitted an application... you have to attend an in-person appointment, where you give your biometrics and hand over all your documents in person.

So, in order to use the Gold service, you would have to withdraw your entire application from Sheffield and start over, paying the visa fee, IHS surcharge all over again, and also the $1,600 Gold service fee.

ah ok! I saw below option while browsing. I thought I can go for the premium upgrade. Please confirm if this is the service which stopped as you mentioned?

No, that's for a completely different visa altogether and it does not apply to you at all.

It is only for people applying for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) from within the UK or for a transfer of their ILR visa into their new passport (NTL stamp), which you won't qualify for until you have spent 5 years in the UK on spousal visas. It allows people to switch from an in-country postal application to an in-person application at a UK premium centre for £590, since the postal applications take 6 months.

If you click on the form, it only allows people applying for the following ILR visas to use it:
SET(M)
SET(O)
SET(LR)
SET(AF)
SET(F)
NTL (No Time Limit)

Unfortunately, your only options are:

- withdraw your application completely and request your documents back, but this can take 20 working days (sometimes longer), so you likely wouldn't get your passport back until late January anyway, and you also lose the visa fee
or
- keep the application processing and accept that you may not be able to travel to India

Another option is to apply for a second passport and use that to travel to India.

Thanks ksand24. Then I have no other option, and wait patiently. Only thing that I don't want to miss my sister's wedding  :( . I hope things will be cleared before that.

In that case, I will not be able to travel back to US as my US visa stamped in old passport and I am still working here.

I didn’t suggest that because nikki87 is an Indian citizen living in the US on a US visa. Even if it’s possible to get a new Indian passport issued and mailed to the US in the next 2 weeks, they would not have a valid visa in order to get back into the US.

Damn, I was really hoping to hear someone on any of the boards say that they heard something. I think the last person to be approved was on December 16th (ChampS - posted in the gold thread), guess we'll all be waiting until the New Year as I can't really imagine much getting done in the three work days next week.

I know, me too. I was being realistic that we probably wouldn't hear, but was hopeful we might. At least I can give myself a few days break from checking the tracking info of my return label  :-\\\\

I am not seeing any updates on Settlement Visa after Dec 16th. I was thinking they might start working from Jan 2nd and will see some updates on atleast Golden Priority or Priority applications but there are no updates on even those applications. Did they put on hold with settlement visa process? Mine is Non priority and this is 20th Business Day. I hope will see some updates starting from next week at least.

No holds, they are just going slowly at the moment. It’s really disappointing, especially for our gold applicants.  :-\\\\

Yup, I was thinking that people might start to hear again this week since the only national holiday as Monday. Things seem to have really slowed down which is a pity and if I were a priority or gold priority applicant, I'd be pretty miffed right now. Here's to hoping that someone hears something tomorrow - at least one person on this entire forum. Otherwise, I'm definitely starting to believe that Guardian article.
