Do you guys know what banks are both in the US and the UK?? I need a bank account that will have my money in sterling, but that I can also link my student loans and credit card payment to monthly for here in the US.  I was thinking about looking at Bank of America and Citi bank.  Anyone have any advice?

I haven't noticed American banks in London at all. I'm thinking of moving funds from BoA to my existing Lloyd's accounts in the UK.

Sadly BoA charges heavily for these transactions.

There's another forum that talks about handling Forex.

I think a lot of people on here use Transferwise to transfer money from UK to US and vice versa.

HSBC operates inboth but I think you need quite a large balance to have it be valid in both.

Getme2england, I also lived with my parents and worked til the visa came. I'm glad i did! You only have 30 days to enter on the spouse vignette and it would have been hard to deal with a lot more than just packing up and quitting in the time I had.

I transfer money from my UK account to my US account to pay my loan every month. You could see if the provider will draw from a foreign account but, honestly, transferring money will probably be the easiest way.

I agree, your best bet is Transferwise. Best value transfers and couldn't be easier. Fast too.  :)

We do a lot of work with BAML at work but I've always thought it was corporate, not consumer.  I could be 100% wrong though!

I agree, just use Transferwise and bank for convenience.   :)

Today was my hubby's birthday, and that has been hard to deal with cause I really wanted to be back for that. Meh...

Anyone know roughly around what time (British or US) I can safely assume I will definitely not get any correspondence from Sheffield?

I've been assuming that if I don't hear from them by 6 PM Brit time/1 PM Eastern (cause I used to work 10 to 6 in London) then I'm done checking for the day.

I'd give up after 5.  Government after all.

Where in Berkshire will you be moving?

I find myself constantly checking on here to see if anyone that applied before me has heard! Hopefully we will hear in the next couple of weeks if timelines stay the same
*hugs to everyone*

Ugh I figured. I had figured they might close even earlier cause my local council has a habit of "closing early" at 4.30 on Friday.

We have a flat in Reading. Half my stuff is still there :( Realised I left like all my summer clothes there lol

I hope so <3

It's been a bit discouraging this week; but maybe since it's getting to the end of the month, more people might start hearing back. Then the NPs will have their turns >.>
