Oh well, it's actually a side dish by American standards!!  I have been assimilated, because I was thinking it was a pudding now. HAHAHA
http://allrecipes.com/recipe/9316/grandmas-five-cup-salad/

Combine the oranges, pineapple, marshmallows, coconut, and sour cream. Stir till mixed well. Refrigerate till cold. Serve.

I'm trying to be nice since I'm still angling for some of that smoked porter, but that 5 cup salad sounds demented.  Marshmallows and sour cream?

Re smoked porter, there's a Heath Bar with your name on it.

in fairness, it does sound like an odd combination!

You'd better hurry, once the kids discover the bag of miniature Heath Bars they won't last long.

Mmm...chocolate Guinness cake. I use Nigella's recipe and it's always a sure hit.
I also saw someone mention cake batter cookies. I was skeptical about these but made red velvet ones at Christmas time covered with icing sugar. I AM HOOKED.

More "American"-ish desserts (at least I think they are) that I love:
Pineapple upside-down cake
Blueberry Muffins (this is the best recipe ever: http://www.manilaspoon.com/2012/09/blueberry-muffins.html)
NY Style Cheesecake (I have a Jamie Oliver recipe somewhere that is spot on)
Pumpkin pie (I'm pretty much pumpkin obsessed)
Sweet potato pie
Key lime pie

I am happy to taste test anything. you know, to make sure the new mixer is mixing properly and stuff. :-D

Oooh! Mine were more like crinkle cookies. These look sooo good (and I happen to have a box of funfetti!)

I saw a recipe for graham crackers in a book the other day. Perhaps you can make your own if you need them?

how do you make it without graham crackers??

digestive biscuits are the usual substitute for graham crackers.

hah I think I used my last box of funfetti unfortunately. I still have some blue frosting though I think! LOL

Oh man...I wish I could say I wasn't too lazy to even consider this option....but I totally am! hahah

Yeah that's my usual "go to" for pie crusts etc., I just wasn't sure if it would change the taste once it got "soggy" (is the best way for me to describe it lol) after being set with the pudding. I will definitely be giving it a go at some point because Icebox cake was literally my favourite thing growing up. Summer was the best time of year because thats when it was mainly made in my family!

I ended up making the Birthday Cake cookie pie....but we were a bit pissed by the time we put it in the oven and I don't think my friend let the oven heat up for long enough and then took it out too quickly.....so it was actually a bit Sh*t hahah. If we had cooked it properly, though, it would;ve been great...What's a bit of Salmonella between friends though!? I ate the partially raw cookie dough still and it was fab. hahaha The rest of them ate around the outside (because that bit was fully cooked) and they said it was good and wished it had just cooked all the way through instead of just the edges.

I also made the cake batter cookies that I posted about on Friday (the ones I mentioned I hadn't tried yet making myself yet) and they were AMAZING nice and warm with ice cream. If I didn't take them around to my inlaws for Sunday BBQ, I would've used them to make ice cream cookie sandwiches. I'll post a pic from my phone.

Thanks everybody for the suggestions! I know have a lot of recipes I look forward to making for future desserts!

And there's some cookie shots :)
