Interesting hobbies (another pic thread)
« on: May 20, 2017, 11:44:51 AM »
I just started (and love! ❤️) Aerial Hoop! Started pole back up as well at the same studio! This is a pic of my "mermaid" position. Anybody else try anything new lately? Or return to something old? It have done something interesting in the past they want to share?

(Pardon the awkward face. I think you can understand why? Lol)

That's incredible, KoD! Keep it up!

Something new I'm trying? Marriage  ;D ;D ;D

Since I can't work yet I've been taking a lot of time to cook dinner. I never felt like I've been a particularly good cook but my husband says he's never eaten better in his life. It's a bit odd having to convert all of my recipes over. Here's some pork loin I made recently. I was a bit skeptical of the beets but it turned out quite nicely!

Haha marriage is definitely interesting at the best of times!

Well done!! Looks lovely! Gordon Ramsay would probably be proud of the presentation as well! Hahaha the converting part is a bit annoying but I made sure to just bring US measuring cups and spoons to make it easier on myself (although you can get them here as well..I just wasn't sure what to expect when I first moved here lol was over-prepared! Whoops!)

I did keep mine, but they're in storage with everything else. :\\\'( The husband's flat is a lot smaller than mine and I wanted to keep some of my furniture, so it's all packed away until we can move somewhere nicer.

Oh man! That's fair enough! Sods law is that you'll eventually get them out but find you don't even need them anymore! haha

I've been trying my hand at Baking as I used to make cakes and cupcakes for events back in the states. Plus my husband just bought me a kitchen aid mixer . But I just can't get my cakes to come out right here. It's frustrating but I'll keep trying. My chocolate Ones come out much better than my white/vanilla ones.  Trying to get used to my oven and different ingredients/recipes here.

I'm a keen amateur photographer (very amateur haha).

I'm tearing my hair out where to go with this shot I took of the wife.

Any ideas? :) Or do you like it with the processing I've already done?

I just bought a kitchenaid as well!! It was on sale for £299 as a shop nearby was closing down and I couldn't say no to that price!

Will follow you on Instagram now. I love photography too but am incredibly amateur myself haha.

I like the shot as is! Very pleasing to look at! Good composition in my opinion :)

The US and UK measurements are slightly different so I have a full set of US measuring cups, spoons, and a Pyrex liquid pitcher here in addition to my UK set.  Sometimes I have to adjust ingredients or baking times to get it right but having the proper measuring sets usually works.  I also love my KitchenAid Mixer.  Adore it.  Now I want to make cookies...

Ben, that photo is absolutely stunning!

My current hobby (when not digging through the family tree) is my (drum roll...) Henry VIII cross stitch.  I kid you not, I have been working on a cross stitch set of the big man himself surrounded by his wives for over a year now.  So far I have completed (except for the back stitching) Henry, Anne of Cleeves, Kathryn Howard, Catherine Parr, and Jane Seymour.  I just started on Anne Boleyn today then have to complete Katherine of Aragon and the decorative border.

And then I will return to my enthralling book about the UK census since 1801, don't wait up.   ;)

Sounds like you'll have a head start with your life in the UK test studies!  ;)

That cross stitch sounds absolutely mad.  We live pretty close to Hampton Court Palace (where Henry VIII used to live) and we've spent a lot of time there.

I'd really like to see a picture of that.
