Here's a great big THANK YOU!!! to the experienced members who have been through the process (some who are approaching ILR and/or citizenship, and others who are bona fide Brits) and patiently answer the same questions over and over again.

The paycheck's small (okay, nonexistent) and retirement fund stingy (okay,  also nonexistent), but you have our gratitude and love.

Thanks for helping us get our visas!

Thanks for holding our hands throughout the ridiculously long, complicated, and unnecessarily difficult applications.

(I won't name names, as I will surely forget someone who's dedicated a lot of time and effort. So if you've been through the process and helped on the board, this means you!)

I've posted on other forums before but I'm especially thankful for how friendly everyone here is and how they empathize. Thank you!

This is truly the only place where I can let my chin down and my stiff upper lip relax.  Keep your chin up!  Keep a stiff upper lip!  When I'm talking on the phone to family members and they ask if I've heard anything, I'm always a little stunned.  Don't they think I'd lead with that?  I've been couch surfing since March 18.  Unbelievably, after two weeks in a crappy hotel, I am now staying at the home of exwife #2 to my first husband.  She's being super nice, but it is well, very odd.  Without this forum, I do not know what I'd do.

100% agree. I really relied on this forum for so much, knowing full well if I had applied on my own, I would've missed key documents and royally flubbed it up. I mean, there's still a good chance I did as I wait in the April timeline, but I still have a lot of confidence, especially thanks to Ksand and Kfdancer. Thank you for everything. Don't understand how you carry on your jobs and life while still being there for all of us! I will try to stay on and help out when I can too after I am on your side of the pond.

Agree so so much! I've just applied for a settlement-husband visa to move with my wife. (Will post our timeline soon.) We couldn't even figure out the correct visa to apply for until folks here patiently laid it out for us, probably for the 10 millionth time.

Ksand said that knowledgeable folks post here as a hobby, and I want to commend them for having a hobby that's so beneficial. Especially in light of the anti-immigrant trends in Europe and the US recently, this message board is a real service.

Sorry to gush (very un-British?), but you guys are great!

I do agree that out of any expat forums I've visited in the past, this is the only one I can truly consider myself a "member" of because it's just a great and helpful community!

Yeah, the emotional support is great. For us (in addition), I'm about 99% sure we would have completely screwed up our application and/or gone to terrible lawyers without this forum.

And, wow. Ex-wife. I can just imagine how odd that must be. :-O But glad you have someone to help out.

Me, too! I think as we have to apply for FLR(M) and ILR, etc., that we'll hang out on the board, anyway. Plus, I've met some cool friends through this board.

So...thanks. :D

Such a nice thread. The veterans have helped me through a refusal, reapplication, flr(m). Roughly 400 days until they help with Ilr (439 until i apply).

Thank you veterans and those in the same timeline as me
