Why Everyone is so giddy
« on: May 25, 2017, 02:46:44 PM »

Just for the benefit of people not currently living in the UK:

You may wonder why everyone is posting so much gibberish and having fun.  I think I actually saw a smiley face icon from Sirius, so you know something strange is happening.  By all rights we should all be miserable as the army is on the streets and the terrorist threat level is at Armageddon.

What you may not know is that it is a rare, sunny, glorious day and a Bank holiday weekend is coming up.  In a break with tradition, the forecast is for sun!

No one at my office is doing any work, every computer is on Google Maps planning a trip to the beach

Haha. It's also been sunny ALL week, which helps.

And those of us in smaller cities and towns aren't seeing quite the same as those in the big cities.

We're going to enjoy our lives and not let those a*sholes get us down.
The usual. American girl meets British guy. They fall into like, then into love. Then there was the big decision. The American traveled across the pond to join the Brit. And life was never the same again.

Judging from Son of Sailor's last post, the security guards at Tesco have let him come back in to shop again.  Roll on the cheap cider of summer!

They said I had to put my shirt back on is all...

How these things get started...

I just had two lunchtime pints (Thursday is farm-bag pick-up day at the pub, and since I was there anywayyyy ...), and not one punter asked me for a 'spare' cigarette or tried to speak to me in any way, so it is most definitely a positive outlier of a day.

That is really unfair, seeing as it is definitively a TAPS AFF situation. http://www.taps-aff.co.uk/

That's what I like about you, not one but TWO pints for lunch.

The rest of us are all talk.

Vegetables and beer, the Zen balance of life.

Listen I did wear flip flops to work though. I've had a terrible case of athletes' foot for about a month. My left pinkie toe looks like swamp thing.

Lyonaria's been looking for pickles again.  Maybe you could help start the culture.

I seriously got sunburn on my arms by sitting outside for 15 minutes at lunchtime. #Scottishsummer
I've never gotten food on my underpants!

Ew. Why would you want that near pickles?! Haha. Kosher dills don't ferment. They just soak up flavour from the brine. 😂
