Target & Bed, bath, and beyond alternatives
« on: June 12, 2017, 12:45:07 PM »
Hi, I just moved over to London and we need home goods (and would love a Home Goods store!) I know there are TKMaxx locations through out London but what about something equivalent to Target and Bed, Bath, and Beyond? Would love to be able to find sheets and at a better price as well as all other Target shopping odds and ends.

There is nothing anywhere near as good as Target that I've found. I miss it so much!

I recently discovered Dunelm, you could try there?

Thanks.  I'll add it to the places to check out, looks like I have a direct bus I can take there. And so the adventures begin!

Yeah, definitely no Target or BBB equivalents.

Great sheets for a decent price at Costco!

I like The Range for odds and ends.

I 2nd, 3rd, 4th no Target equivalent. Dunelm is good, but a bit pricey...however we got a steal on dining room chairs on clearance, so worth checking. Wilko is good for general home odds and ends. Also, find what you want and then look on Amazon. One thing I hate about sheets here, is that it is HARD to find sheet sets (fitted/flat/2 pillowcases) almost everywhere you have to buy all the pieces separately, which adds up.

The sheets! That's exactly what I'm noticing too. Why is it so hard to buy a top sheet here? I don't want to have to wash my comforter every week because I can't find top sheets.

I think a lot fewer people use a top sheet here (my opinion) because they use duvets/duvet covers. So they just wash the duvet cover instead of a top sheet. In the US, people use comforters which are a lot harder to clean? I don't know, but my DH had never used a top sheet before I married him, and we don't even bother for the kids anymore now either. You CAN find them, but you have to look. Maybe buy some fitted sheets somewhere, and then find a coordinating solid flat sheet off Amazon or something?

Completely agree with this.

My dad who was very old fashioned preferred a top sheet. I had bought them for him from Asda in the past. Not sure what the range is like now though.

Yeah, top sheets aren't widely used in the UK (except in hotels), though you can definitely buy them in most stores (as 'flat sheets').

Since you are in blackheath I know the tk maxx in lewisham is actually pretty good. We also used a lot of Marks stuff(a little pricer but I really love the quality). There is an Ikea at Westfield which you can take a bus to or the train!

I miss Target so much. They do ship to the UK now....

We have several different types of sheets from IKEA. Also from stalls at the market (my husband's doing) which came with a flat sheet and pillowcases.

In this weather I am missing top sheets!

Argos and Wilko have a lot of home stuff as well, so we go there for odds and ends.
