Any Good Amusement Parks?
« on: June 26, 2017, 11:36:42 AM »

My wife is out of town next weekend so I've got To entertain the kids on Sunday.  I thought I might take the kids to an amusement park since she hates that kind of thing .  Can anyone recommend something good in the South?

Thorpe park has been done to death, the girl has a pass.  We've been to Legoland and Chessington enough as well.

Hopefully some place where they have beer and the lines are not too long.

I'll recommend something funny in Hampshire just because it's kind of relevant:

http://www.hollycombe.co.uk/

This is in Hampshire and is a giant collection of old steam powered fair ground rides.  Included in the price of admission is unlimited rides on a wide variety of great rides.

I'm looking for something more modern though!

Paultons park?

Thanks, that might be a goer.  Have you been?  Will it work for kids that are way too old for peppa pig?

This looks amazing!

It really was fun , we just sort of stumbled onto it while driving.

The rides are run by volunteers and are really run by steam.  One or two were proper scary by virtue of how old and rickety they felt.

We went recently and I thought it was only Peppa.  Boy was I wrong!  We never even made our way to "the other side" but I could see lots of upside down rollercoasters.  It was a really nice well maintained park too.  Probably a good bit less "stuff" than Thorpe (which I think is really really big) but could just be different.

Looks good, especially since they don't appear to sell other people the ability to jump the queue in front of me.

I got so mad last time I visited Legoland that I started shouting "Wanker" at the fast track people.  Never a good look for dad.

Just in case anyone is interested, we ended up going to Thorpe Park with my daughter's friend who is a bit disabled.
That meant fast track all the way!  Not for nothing, the friend was struggling a bit to get around after a long day.

I can't believe people would go there normally on a busy day and stand in line for hours to go on some of those crappy rides.

Swarm was really good though.
