My husband had his GP appointment for a referral for a vasectomy this morning.  No longer offered on the NHS and will be £400.

How does this make sense?

The NHS will no longer have to supply me with birth control and I'm not pumping hormones into my body.  They would cover a woman to be sterilised.  Not to mention how much a pregnancy and cradle to grave care would be for another child!

We have the means to pay and will (though my husband isn't thrilled  ;)).  But I imagine a lot of people don't have the means and this kind of procedure could SAVE the NHS money.

When we were in a position similar to to yours, our doctor (thankfully) talked us out of the snip.  "You never know what the future holds...".

Poor husband, got to see his choice of movie and probably had no idea what was going to happen on Monday.

Lol!  He booked the appointment.  He's is truly fine with it but a bit nervous as it will be happening in a few weeks.

We are 100% done having kids (biological at least).  We're too old to do this again!

You need to move!

In most parts of the UK, a vasectomy is available free of charge from the NHS. However, waiting lists can be several months, depending on where you live.

He'll be fine.   ;)

He did message me and say the guys at work have unhelpful ways to save the money.

I feel like all the men reading this are collectively crossing their legs now!

Just in your area or are you seriously saying the whole of the NHS won't cover a vasectomy, which I agree is obscenely short sighted?  :-X

You guys should have gone to see a heavy metal band instead of Adele if it was a good-bye-to-the-bollocks date.

Or maybe a tractor pull,  or cage fighting.

No idea!  May just be our trust but I honestly don't know.

I just don't get how it makes sense!

You do know our kiddos weren't delivered by storks, right?  Have I mentioned that I didn't have an epidural for either?   ;)

I did have it agreed with my consultant that if I needed a section to sterilise me at the same time.  I'm a team player!

Don't worry, I've been there at the coal face.  I don't have to be reminded of the consequences.

But what if you guys split up?
