It's usually a couple of weeks from when they receive the application. Your documents may not have arrived before Christmas, so it might be that they only got it last week. I imagine you'll get the biometrics letter in the next week or two

Have they taken the visa payment from your account yet?

No they haven’t taken payment yet. The tracking said it was signed for on 27 December so I imagine it is too soon to hear anything.

Yeah, I'd give it a week or so after they take the payment.

It's usually:
1) receive application
2) take payment
3) send out application confirmation
4) send out biometrics invite
5) give biometrics
6) visa processing starts when biometrics received
7) visa issued a few weeks later
You're only at 1) at the moment, so there's still a bit of time to wait.

Isn’t it typical that when you ask the question, everything shows up . I received the biometrics invite, but the reason that the payment wasn’t taken was that either the form wasn’t submitted or it wasn’t filled out correctly...  which is strange because I distinctly remember putting it on top so it must have been incorrect 🤨.  They have sent another form for me to complete and send back.

Posted on November 23rd,
Payment taken November 27th
Biometrics letter on the 7th Dec
Biometrics submitted on the 12th Dec
Received approval / passport today! 10th of Jan

Just home from our FLR(M) Premium Service in Belfast and happy report all went seamlessly and was approved in just over an hour! Good luck everyone!

Big thank you to everyone who answered our questions again through this visa process ...we couldn't have done it without your help and guidance .. I am very happy to say we got an approval letter today now just waiting on the brp :-D

Hi,

Thought I'd add our info to the thread. Timeline:

We applied by post to Durham on 22 November 2017.

Biometrics letter on the 11th of December

Received approval/ passport  14th of January 2018 ;D

Congrats! Seems like the turn around is hanging out around 7-8 week mark. I'm 6 weeks on Monday so fingers crossed! I'm ready for a visit home!
