BRP error - Place of Birth

I just collected my BRP and there is an error on my Place of Birth. The town is correct, but the state is wrong. It says "xxxxx, NE" (Nebraska) instead of "xxxxx, NY" (New York). I'm pretty sure this happened because, on my application, I wrote out my Place of Birth as "xxxxx, NEW YORK"

I understand that errors in name and/or date of birth are pretty serious and should be amended as soon as possible, but I was just wondering... how "important" is it that the Place of Birth be correct? Should I submit a request for a new BRP?

FYI: My passport shows my place of birth as New York, USA (no town listed)

I suppose you could always play safe and report it and then see what the Home Office says about it? They say they will email you within 5 days.
