A quick question about being interviewed by police
« on: July 26, 2017, 02:43:36 AM »
Hi all,

I witnessed something that required a police report tonight.  The police were great and very thorough and took my name and (work) contact details.  I just want to check...since I was a witness and not involved in the Thing that needed the police, this won't show up as a negative thing on my record, right?  For immigration?

I didn't really have a choice about being interviewed, not that I would have refused as I could give descriptions that no one else could of the people who did it.  But I just want to know for sure that this is okay.

Nope!

As long as you aren't the cause of the Thing or actively involved in the perpetration of the Thing, you're okay.

Wonderful, thanks!

Yeah, I wasn't involved.  The police were also really great at figuring out immediately who started the thing, who was a victim, and who was a witness.
