Prayers and good wishes needed
« on: August 09, 2017, 01:36:33 PM »
My sweet Copper, who turned sixteen last week, has an aggressive tumor wrapped around her intestines.  The vet gave her a steroid shot to perk her up a bit but we will need to say goodbye.  Will probably do it on Friday as I don't want to drag it out for her.

I'm heartbroken and devastated.  I think you all know I'm a serious cat lady.  I've had my two my entire adult life.  This is so tough.

So sorry to hear this. For me, cats and dogs I have loved have been family and I so understand how heartbreaking it is to have to say goodbye. Thinking of you.

This is the main argument my husband has against getting a "pet" (furry family member).  It always ends in heartbreak.  I'm so sorry, KF.  Take lots of photos (and a pawprint in clay?), and keep your Copper as comfortable as you can until you have to say goodbye.  My thoughts are with you.  :(

Thanks everyone.  I have been crying all day and am so sad.  I've had many phone calls from friends and family, which is nice.

So many happy and funny moments have been flooding back all day.  She's an incredible cat and we only have good memories.  That's the great thing about animals!  You can't get upset with them!

Oh, poor Copper. She's a gorgeous kitty! She's had 16 wonderful years with you and you with her. I've got you guys in my thoughts.
The usual. American girl meets British guy. They fall into like, then into love. Then there was the big decision. The American traveled across the pond to join the Brit. And life was never the same again.

:( I am sooo sorry KFdancer,

I too have am crazy over my cats.. well one at the minute as at the beginning of the year ( Feb) I had to make the heartbreaking decision to allow my almost 18 year old Midnight go over the bridge..

One of the most difficult things to do but is truly the ultimate act of love for your pet.. xx My thoughts will be with you when the time comes.

God, KFd, just seeing this now. I am SO sorry.  I had to take one of the cats we brought with us for the same journey so know exactly what you are going through.
I wanted to keep some of her hair so they shaved a little bit off for me to keep.

This is the very worst part about loving our pets. Thinking of you. xxx

She's a bit perkier after her shot.  I hope we have a good night with lots of cuddles and purrs.  Been digging out photos from the day I got her.  Most people who know me, have only known me with Sobe and Copper!   :)

To top it off, I have a severe vomiting phobia (really bad) and my daughters BFF was sent home from nursery after being sick today.  PRAYING it doesn't hit our house.  We've got enough going on!

Sending lots of love to your family KFDancer. It's so hard to say goodbye to such a loved family member. I'm glad you've got some time to prepare for the inevitable and get those last cuddles & purrs in. <3
