UK Healthcare visa question
« on: August 15, 2017, 12:39:15 PM »
My FLR (M) is up for renewal as of November 15th and I am on the 5 year track so I will require another FLR(M). Bc of when my fiancé visa was granted I didn't have to pay the healthcare charge when I did my FLR(M) the first time (it actually said on the website people with visas/applying for them before April of 2015 were exempt.

Someone I know said that I wouldn't have to pay this bc it wasn't apart of the terms of my original entry but I don't see that anywhere and need to know do I have to pay this? And how much do I have to pay?

Just trying to get my finances in order before I have to book and right now I only have £800 in the pot for renewing things so if I have to pay this healthcare charge, I suspect I'm a bit short.

Yes, you will have to pay the surcharge which is £500 in addition to the visa fee of £993.

In person is an extra £590.  I would only do that if you have urgent travel.  By post, it only takes about 8 weeks.

As KFDancer said, you will have to pay it this time.

That exemption only applies to applications submitted before April 2015. Any application made after April 2015 is subject to the IHS surcharge, regardless of whether you had to pay it before or not.

So, the total cost for the FLR(M) will be £1,493 (plus an extra £590 if you choose to apply in person)

Thanks. No urgent travel but I do have the worst nerves in the history of ever. If post is taking 8 weeks, and my visa expires on the 15th of November can I send things in before October?

You can't apply until 28 days before your current visa expires, so any time from Oct 18th to Nov 15th.

If your visa expires before the application has been processed, your current immigration status will simply be extended until a decision has been made.
