Yeah.  But it is like the one cuisine in the world that would cease to exist without onions and peanuts.
You can make lots of Thai without peanut and onions! It's pretty much my favourite cuisine because so much is naturally gluten and dairy free, but when things get westernised it gets dangerous. In my old city every Thai restaurant ordered chicken that came marinated or processed with something wheat based on it, which was brutal. I could only have shrimp and tofu. :(  I am looking forward to going back and having a giant bowl of pho though!

I've generally avoided Thai food because of the sneaky use of peanuts in their cooking, so I don't even know were to begin with it.  I wouldn't mind eating it if I prepared it myself so I know it's 'safe'... I like spicy, savory, and tangy/sour... not so much sweet.  Do you have any recommendations if I wanted to make something to get started?

I'm still adapting to life here ingredients-wise, but a modified green curry might be a good place to start? Will see if I can find any good recipes. :)

We have a new American themed pancake house restaurant in town.

Who the heck puts beef gravy ON pancakes? Crazy Brits!

I was expecting sausage, hash browns and gravy on the side. Not on top and layered in between the stacks.

I bet that syrup is rank as well.  Judging by the amount, it's probably golden syrup or some sweetener laden brown water.

Anything other than real maple syrup is a fail.

That isn't syrup. That is beef gravy.

One thing my years in the UK has taught me:

MAKE MY OWN PANCAKES.  Though shall not trust the English to make American pancakes!

Reminds me of this happening when a French person brought in some crepes for her UK colleagues :

Thousands of French people die a little inside.

The pancakes themselves were great. The texture and flavor of the actual pancake was fantastic. I just can't fathom in what world do you think beef gravy goes on top of the pancakes and how that is American in any way.

On a different note, they are really trying. They've only been open since Monday and they offer free, unlimited coffee, all meals under £5 And served in 10 minutes or less or it's free.
