Fiance Visa - Fiance's name misspelt!
« on: September 19, 2017, 09:49:52 PM »
Hi All

Today I collected my Fiance Visa from the Kiev VAC and noticed that my fiance's surname has been misspelt. Will this be an issue when we apply for future visas? i.e. Spouse.

My fiance had already booked my flight to the UK before we noticed the misspelling. I fly next week so would be grateful if someone could give us some advice.

Many thanks
Lu

What country did you apply from?

Ukraine

Just to clarify it's not my name that has been misspelt, it's my Fiance's.

Are you normally able to travel from Ukraine to U.K. without needing a visa in advance?

No, usually you need a visitor visa.

I found this thread. Sounds like exactly the same issue. The last two letters of my fiance's name are swapped.

That post was over 10 years okay so would be great if someone can confirm it's still ok  :)

I would contact the VAC and have it corrected before you travel.

Thanks KFdancer. I contacted the VAC today. They said they can send it to Sheffield to be corrected or I can send to Sheffield once in the UK. I don't think I need to tell you which I'll be doing  ;D

I also found this link which may be useful for others  :) https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/correcting-an-incorrect-endorsement-ecb19/correcting-an-incorrect-endorsement-ecb19

Great news!  I would have told a USC to come and change it once in but didn't want to say that for a country that normally requires a visa.   :)
