FLR(M) a question pls.
« on: September 28, 2017, 03:29:33 PM »
Hi Ladies and gents

Im back and thinking about the next visa... currently happily enjoying married life and its been bliss not having to think about visas for a few weeks however its that time again and we are looking to apply for our first FLR...

I had a question when it comes to the evidence for children it appears we need to prove that my son (UK citizen from birth) lives here with myself and my USC husband, its asking for school records and official paperwork

Please tell me I have misread that as I don't have a great deal of anything that would fit the criteria :-/ now im panicking all over again ....

when we applied for the previous visa (fiancée) we didn't need all that for him, just his passport details to prove hes british

Help?

It's a new requirement that you need to provide evidence of where the child lives in the UK - it was added to the FLR(M) form a few months ago (and I think it's also required for ILR now too).

You used to only need to provide:
- the child's birth certificate

Now you need to provide:
- the child's passport
- the child's birth certificate
- evidence that the child lives with you, dated within 3 months of applying

I believe people who have applied recently have used a letter from the child's GP as evidence of where they live, so something like that would work

Yes, a letter from the GP or child's school confirming their registered address will suffice according to the guidance.  The GP will likely charge for the letter and need a couple of weeks to do it (if like my GP).

Ah ok .. so we dont need 6 items for him also then? I recieved a letter from  the child benefit service recently and child maintenance service, presumable those along with his passport would be enough?

No, just the one item - and it needs to be recent... dates within the last 3 months before applying.

Hi All,

I had another question and I hope its not a daft one... If we choose to go through the in person application instead of post, I understand the applicant goes to the appointment but does the sponsor attend also? Or is it only the applicant?

Thank you in advance

The sponsor is supposed to attend as well, so they can confirm their identity and relationship to the applicant.

If the sponsor cannot attend, they should provide a letter of support for the visa.

Sorry I have another question... starting to think maybe Im thinking too much into it now ... on this page https://www.gov.uk/ukvi-premium-service-centres/book-an-appointment
it states "Any dependents named on your application must come with you to your appointment." now my son whose name will physically be present on the application because he is my UK born dependent but is not applying with my husband ... does he need to attend the appointment also?

Many Thanks

No, they mean any dependants who are ALSO applying for a visa. So, if your child is British they do not need to attend the appointment.

However, the UK sponsor DOES need to go to the appointment.

Could you please cast your eye over my list ... so far I have gathered:

2 x passport pics for applicant
2 x passport pics for sponsor

3 x passports (applicant, sponsor and one child-aged 16)

2 x divorce paperwork (1 for each of us)
Our wedding certificate

5 pieces of joint mail (water bills/gas bills/council tax)
1 piece additional for me (car insurance)
1 piece additional for applicant (bank statement)

6 x pay slips
6 x bank statements
P60
Letter from employer stating wage/length of employment etc

I feel like I am missing something glaringly obvious but cant think what?

Do we need the sponsorship undertaking SU07/12?

Okay, just going to organise your documents into the different application sections (and things I've added are in blue):

Applicant

- US passport
- current BRP (if you have one)
- 2 x passport pics with full name on back
- IHS surcharge receipt

Sponsor
- UK passport
- 1 x passport pic with full name on the back

Child
- Child's passport
- Child's birth certificate
- letter from GP etc. as proof of their address

Financial requirement
 - 6 x pay slips... must cover a full 6 months, not a day less, and show at least £1550 before tax on each one.
- 6 x bank statements... must cover a full 6 months, not a day less, and show the deposit of every single payslip.
- Letter from employer stating wage/length of employment etc
- P60
- original job contract

Accommodation requirement:
If you rent:
- Current tenancy agreement
or
If you own:
- Land Registry document
- latest mortgage statement

Relationship evidence
- 2 x divorce paperwork (1 for each of us)
- Our wedding certificate
- 5 pieces of joint mail (water bills/gas bills/council tax)
- 1 piece additional for me (car insurance)
- 1 piece additional for applicant (bank statement)

No, that form is only for exceptional circumstances visas applied for OUTSIDE the UK, namely elderly dependant relatives and adult dependant relatives

Quick question:

What dates are on your 6 items of mail in each name?

They need to be evenly spaced, approximately one document every 4 months for the last 2 years. The separately addressed ones should be dated as close to each other as possible.
