Ksand24 if i could buy you a box of choccies I would .. the dates are

3/7/17
14/07/17
04/08/17
28/08/17
12/10/17

He only arrived in June as a fiance which gave 6 months leave to enter

Ah, okay - for some reason I was thinking you were applying for a renewal... there's just too many different people's situations to keep track of :P.

In that case, what you have looks fine... looks like your dates are pretty evenly spaced between June and October, so that's good :).

Hiya

Just gone online to book our in person appointment and wanted to confirm as this is our first application within the UK after having 6 months on a fiance visa ... are we ticking FLR or as a settlement application?

Yes, it will - he MUST apply before his visa runs out or he will become an illegal overstayer and his application will be deemed ‘out of time’, which means it cannot be processed in-person anyway.

If you cannot get an appointment before his visa expires you will have to apply by post instead and make sure you mail it before the expiry date.

Have you tried any other premium centres to see if they have any appointments?

Edited to add:

You could start preparing a postal application, but keep checking online for appointment cancellations - you might be lucky and get one

When does his visa expire?

Yeah, you print the application form, fill it and your payment details out, gather all the documents together, put them in an envelope and mail them to UKVI in Durham.

A week or two later you will receive an acknowledgment letter and a letter inviting him to give biometrics at a Post Office (this costs £19.20). Then once he has given biometrics they will process the visa. The postal applications seem to be taking between about 5 and 8 weeks at the moment.

For applying by post, you’ll need to include a photo of you together, and you may want to include a sponsor letter of support, but it’s not mandatory.

When does your visa expire? If you have time left, I'd keep checking for a bit longer as ksand suggested.

It's best to use the paper form, print it out, fill it in and mail it with your evidence.

Don't rush your application when you don't have to. Take your time and make sure you include everything that's required. Do you have your items of mail for example?

Yeah, sounds like you left it a bit late to book the appointment.

They release them 42 days in advance, so to guarantee getting one before 7th December, it would have been best to book it around mid-October.

You don’t need to post the application so soon though - unless there’s a specific reason for needing the visa back ASAP, I wouldn’t be so quick to mail it.

You still have almost a month in which to post it, so don’t rush - take your time and make sure you have everything ready before you put it in the mail.

At least it’s only taking a few weeks by post at the moment :).

Thank you again ... I dunno how this visa process turns me into a blithering idiot every time!
Monica I know JUST what you mean!! By the time you send in your current application you feel like an expert...give it a few weeks and it seems to slip right out of my mind. Everytime I try to write notes to help next time, but there always seems to be some small stupid questions!

Thank you for the replies .. I have all the paperwork ready and for some unknown reason thought I'd get an appointment within the next 2/3 weeks lol

Oh well postal application it is ... when it comes to q 6.34 about shared financial responsibility .. what is the correct answer here .. his name is on some bills now but not being allowed to work means he has no finances to contribute to the bill ...

Mary I feel it everytime i look at this form .. like my brain just turns off .. hence thinking we'd get an appointment in time lol

For 6.34, I think it mainly means legal financial responsibilities - things like joint mortgage, joint loans, joint credit cards etc. - things you are both legally responsible for paying.

However, some people list things like jointly paying rent and bills too.

If he has no money to contribute to any expenses at the moment, then just put that.

Sorry about not being able to get an appointment - most people book theirs before they even start looking at the application form or gathering all their documents.

For a while, the only way to even get an appointment was to book at midnight exactly 42 days before you wanted the appointment - because third parties were buying up all the appointments and then selling them on for higher prices. UKVI put a stop to that and since then there have been no real issues getting appointments, but they do book up if you wait too long.

It's not a big deal ... it would be nice to not have to wait what felt like an eternity again and have it over our heads all over Xmas ... but alas we will manage that part of it .. least we are together for this visa application and not doing it from different continent's!

Should I put something along the lines of he has been added to the bills however due to current visa is not able to work/contribute to them? (Gas electric water )
