Biometrics Appointment
« on: October 03, 2017, 11:29:11 PM »
I’m light of my VFS payment taking forever to go through I rescheduled my biometrics appointment from today to tomorrow. I want to make sure I’m doing this right so I’m wondering what do I bring? Do I bring the print out of the letter that says Appointment Confimation? Is this what they stamp? I don’t need to bring my application and documents do I?

Thanks!!

You just need to take:
- your passport
- your printed biometrics confirmation sheet (with the barcode on it)

They will check your ID and confirmation sheet and stamp the sheet, then take your fingerprints and photo... and then you go home. Shouldn't take more than a few minutes.

You don't need to take the application and documents with you. In some countries you submit
your application and documents, at the same time as giving biometrics, but in the US, you mail everything later (within 5 days of biometrics).

Just make sure you print the biometrics confirmation from within the visa website, the emailed confirmation doesn't have the barcode they need. (I was the only person to get that right the day I went.) You'll need your passport as ID as well I think.

Is it 5 business days? Or just 5 days?

I have my biometrics appt. this afternoon, but going into a holiday weekend, I didn't know if maybe I had an extra couple days to double and triple check everything before I send it all off. Or does 5 days mean I have to send it by this coming Monday?

Yeah, it's 5 calendar days, so you have until Monday.

Remember, it's not a holiday in the UK and they don't take Thanksgiving into account. UKVI Sheffield employees will be working both Thursday and Friday this week.

This happened to me.  Mine didn’t have the barcode.  They asked if I happened to have my application with me, and luckily I did, it was in the car.  They were able to get what they needed from my application to proceed.  Therefore, I’d suggest at least having the application in the car, just in case.
