Help! BRP/spousal visa question
« on: October 14, 2017, 03:22:28 PM »
My spousal visa (entry clearance sticker in my passport) was issued 7/22/15, just a few days before the Home Office started issuing BRPs. It's valid for 5 years, as I'm a dependant of a UK Armed Forces member (reference this: http://talk.uk-yankee.com/index.php?topic=85365.msg1122314#msg1122314).

So, it appears I won't receive a BRP until my next visa in 2020. Do I still have the right to work in this country, even without a BRP? And if not, what can be done about this? My spousal visa states work permitted, no public funds.

I only ask because I'm meeting with a recruiter on Monday, and she asked me to bring my passport. Then I read something today about BRPs and employment, and started doubting and gave myself a mini panic attack. Had no problems with my visa when I started my previous job in the UK 2 years ago.

As long as your visa is in your current passport and not an expired passport, you do not need a BRP.
