Things to do upon arrival
« on: October 19, 2017, 02:16:42 PM »
I've made it! Thank you all for the assistance and advice.

I thought it would be a good idea to post and ask for a list of things that I should probably do now that I'm here. Register for a doctor, etc.

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the UK!  ;D

Yes, doctor, dentist, bank account, national insurance number.
Start thinking about taking a few driving lessons and getting your UK license, you only have 1 year to drive on your US one and it can take a while to get through the system.
Get names on the bills and turn on paper statements for everything, you'll need a bunch of mail for your next visas.

Yes I can vouch for the time getting through the system! Just for the provisional license I had to give a medical release so they could check that I am fit to drive. That's after mailing the application and my passport and BRP.
