Seriously? WTF?
« Reply #30 on: October 27, 2017, 11:34:00 AM »
I remember every episode as being completely spellbinding.  But I haven't watched it since I was 9.

I know what you mean about getting your husband to watch it, that's a tough thing to face when Gilligan's Island isn't as good as you remembered.  I'm thinking of getting my kids to watch MASH but I fear the same thing will happen.

TF, did they also get a financial "gift" to help buy the house?

Of course!

Wedding gift... One from FIL and one from grand-FIL because she got them to commit separately (at least from our perspective and based on stories we've heard), so basically double.

Gift for a house (and she's been talking about a second house).

Two days of childcare from FIL on his days off, even if she's off. Because two kids are too much for one adult to handle. ???

Who knows what else....

I'm sure she think we're benefitting from living with FIL, but we do pay rent (but family rent, not London rent). But that probably makes us even in her book. ::)

I loved it. Same with the Beverley Hillbillies. DH also found that one predictable. Same situation with Early Edition.

I think the best show from my childhood that DH has liked is Bill Nye.

Do not fear M*A*S*H!  When my friends' daughter was a baby, the dad would watch a rerun with her just as he got home from work (it was that station's afternoon/evening lineup; plus, he loved M*A*S*H and had every episode memorized).  While I was visiting, I ended up seeing it daily again after not watching it for more than 20 (?) years... it held up just fine.  In fact, I found it somewhat poignant... even the funny episodes.

I wouldn't expect your kids to immediately embrace it, though.  Maybe just watch it for you so it doesn't get spoiled.

I'll take that advice to heart.  I can't imagine the kids not liking it.

My "WTF" moment that I'm dealing with today is that I was invited to a stag do....As a female...and I can't get out of it.... -__- I feel like I'm totally okay with it, but I know how weird others will find it.....

...my husband is also invited and totally fine with me going and has said this in front of the organiser (our friend). So that was my "out" gone. lol

I just feel sorry for the strippers when you get  on stage and show them what's what on the pole.

It's already been confirmed that there are no strippers...so there's that at least lol. (they didn't want them probably because the Stag is a dad now so trying to keep it a bit more low-key lol).

You dodged a bullet.  Strippers at a stag do are always super awkward.

A video?  I'm no expert in stripper etiquette but I would imagine video cameras are not welcome.

It's Amsterdam. lol That should say enough. it wasn't a strip club. It was a mobile stripper.

Oh, a mobile stripper.  That's completely different.  I think video is OK if you offer a cuppa as well.

But I don't really know, just Basing this on my recent experience with the mobile tyre fitter.

Are you invited as a friend or as a babysitter? Even without a stripper, I'm guessing some guys would still need a babysitter.

Are there other females going or invited?
