Not gonna sugar coat it.  The first few years are tough as you have to build a new immune system for UK bugs.  Hope this passes very quickly!

Get well soon!

I got the flu right after I moved here. It lasted for 2 weeks and was horrible.

KFDancer - I was thinking about that.  I am wondering if it would be a good idea to book one of those Flu jabs in Boots for hubby and I??

We get them every year and haven't had flu once between us. Not sure if it's the inoculation working or just coincidence!  :)

I had a flu jab last Tuesday.  It's my first one since moving to the UK.  I'd read that the flu strain expected this year could be especially bad, and I didn't want to take any chances, even though I've not had more than a mild sniffle since moving here.

I hope you're feeling back to normal soon, Nan!

We get it every year.  I wouldn't wish the flu on anyone.  I heard today the cheapest place to get it is Asda, as it's only £5.

[I assume it's the flu.]  Didn't I read that last year's jab was totally ineffective for old people, that it made no difference in their getting the flu? Or am I hallucinating?

I think we will book them. Can't hurt (well, only for a second) can it?

First thing I did this week when I arrived to pick up my BRP was to catch a nasty chest cold. I don't think it's the flu, and I'm allergic to the jab, but I can now confirm my husband is a great caregiver and tesco fails for safe comfort food. Their "finest stock" is not fit for consumption unless turned into gravy. Finally starting to feel more human, and head back home on Saturday to sell my house.

I hope you're feeling better quickly Nan!

No, I don't think you're hallucinating:  https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/641162/Influenza_vaccine_effectiveness_in_primary_care_1617_final.pdf

I used to get nasty, long lasting sickness  every year until the last two when I've had a flu jab.  Nothing since then.

One year we had actual swine flu and I may have caught that.  The government sent me some tamiflu.

Just a little minor thing, to stop people thinking you're English  ;)... in Scotland (at least in Glasgow), it's a 'jag', not a 'jab'.

Hope you feel better soon!!
