I didn't.  I only brought what I could carry in my carry-on, "personal item" (my camera case), and two checked bags.  It was all personal items, so I didn't declare anything, and if my checked bags were inspected, they weren't concerned with the contents.
9/1/2013 - "fiancée" (marriage) visa issued
4/6/2013 - married (certificate issued same-day)
5/6/2013 - FLR(M)#1 in person -- approved!
8/1/2016 - FLR(M)#2 by post -- approved!
8/5/2018 - ILR in person -- approved!
22/11/2018 - Citizenship (online, with NDRS+JCAP) -- approved!
14/12/2018 - I became a British citizen.  :)

Health insurance wasn't an issue for me, as I didn't have any 😬

Taxes, I haven't done anything yet really. Since I lived in the states for most of the year I'll file taxes as usual online in February. After that I know we're supposed to file taxes on our U.K. earnings but that's a good year off still.

Before I left I had my American bank change my mailing address to here. I'm sure there's other things I haven't throught of that I'll need to deal with from afar. But I have my 2 grown daughters holding down things in California, so I'm not too concerned. Oh....I also had to get a background check done before I left because I work in schools and the check they would do here wouldn't be sufficient for a new resident.

I just picked up my BRP card at the post office yesterday. Super easy. I'm going to phone about getting a national insurance number today. We need to get me added to the lease on the flat and added to hubbys bank account.

When are you coming over evy?
