My "romantic" angle is a bit different: our 25th anniversary is on the 19th of Dec. I'd love to take my Scottish wife "home" for our 25th! The main thing driving my anxiety, however, is that my job offer is contingent on my getting this visa. The last thing I need is needless delays that lead them to rescind the offer because they've lost patience and need to hire someone to fill the spot. Ugh. I feel confident we have all the qualifications--it's just a matter of getting Sheffield just the right documentation for them to make the right decision in time.

I really hope and wish that you get the double bonanza soon... Hopefully the BE people, will turn out to be little kind, by bringing families together at least before Christmas. And I hope you will keep your offer par-llelly. Good Luck to you !!

PLEASE save your money and don’t call.  They don’t know anything about your application and are highly inaccurate.  The fact they charge for such useless information is astounding!

Definitely! Save that money - don't bother calling or emailing. If you can't resist the urge of wasting the money, go speak to the local MP and get them to ring - it doesn't cost them anything other than their time.

I was terrified that would happen to me when I got my notice that there would be delays. It did not. The folks at my new job were amazing and waited a full two extra months beyond what we agreed for me to start work. Just be honest about your inability to control the process, and I bet you’ll be okay

Way too early to involve at MP. Thy won’t be upset, they just likely won’t find out anything for you.

Do NOT under any circumstances call the ‘helpline’ or email them. They don’t know anything, will often make up incorrect information, and keep you on as long as possible to drive up costs to no benefit. We all are tempted as the days pass, but just don’t do it. If you get to 8 weeks or so and just can’t stand the wait, then be in touch with your MP-but don’t give the call line your money!!!!
