Steak and Ale Pie

Anyone have a good recipe for Steak and Ale Pie? And can recommend a UK ale to use in it? (Special occasion dinner.)  Thanks!

I think a stout or a ruby ale is nice. And add a tablespoon of Marmite. Even if you don't like Marmite. It adds a nice touch of umami.

I use this Hairy Bikers recipe: http://www.goodtoknow.co.uk/recipes/472632/Hairy-Bikers--steak-and-ale-pie

I like to use Newcastle Brown Ale for this personally! The only other ale I have used to make this with was one called Mann (super cheap - thought I'd give it a go since it was just for cooking) and it was actually really nice, but I can't seem to find it anymore.

I also use the Hairy Bikers recipe - the stronger the ale, the better, though I mostly smell in when cooking, rather than tasting when eating.
