You have all been great help! We went ahead and cancelled our Ireland flights as we don't want to risk it (booked them with air miles so was free to cancel). I am going to go ahead with the Visit visa and hope for the best.

At least you won't have to worry on the flight over with your family.

ksand is the one who knows what to say for visit visas.

Perhaps don't forget to show that you know it is in your own interest to leave and apply for a spouse visa and that you can meet the financial requirements at the end of December 2017?

I saw online that the normal timeline for NHS Surcharge refund is 6 weeks? Does it usually take that long?

I think it can take up to 90 days and even then they usually need prompting.   ::)

Yeah I just looked we started an application last August and cancelled it and still haven't gotten a refund
