Application time! New barcode separators?
« on: November 22, 2017, 04:46:34 PM »
In all my googling and browsing through forums and blogs, I stumbled across some information about a new system of barcode separators for organizing your application documents.

Here's a link to the article.

Now this is the first I've heard about these barcode separators and I've come across nothing on the VSF or Visa4UK websites about these. Do we need them?

They use them for countries that scan their documents to the UK rather than sending them as you do from the US.
They are not relevant if you are applying from the USA.

Ok, thank you!!! I got all paranoid and figured it was better to ask than to assume.

When submitting the final application, do I need to worry about the order of the documents enclosed? I know we can't staple or paper clip stuff, so I've just put sticky notes to separate the different types of documents included. And do copies get included alongside the originals, or should I just group the copies all at the bottom of the stack together?

I know this all seems so pedantic, but everyone's horror stories have me spooked!

You can paper clip stuff, but I wouldn’t staple anything. You can also use rubber bands to hold the sections together.

You should organise the documents into sensible piles, in the following general order:

- application forms and applicant documents
- sponsor’s ID and support letter
- financial documents
- accommodation documents
- relationship documents
- photocopies of original documents
