Need Santa Help
« on: November 29, 2017, 11:30:58 PM »
Ok, so the Daughter had a pair of knock-off Ugg boots from Walmart for years, and they finally fell apart before we moved. She was wistfully wishing she could have another pair.  No way I'm paying what Ugg boots proper cost, but if I can find some half-way decent knock-offs (similar style, that is) I'd buy them.

SO, having gone through a lot of stores in City Center and coming out hyperventilating over the prices, I thought I'd ask if anyone can recommend an online (or other) retailer where I might find some for 30-ish pounds? (Yes, as a matter of fact, I do leave cookies out for Santa, too!  ;)     )

What length (ankle, mid-calf, knee, above knee?), style, colour, etc. should we be looking for?  Leather or suede?

I had a quick look for Ugg alternatives and Ella Boots look like they might work?

You can buy from Costco online even if you are not a member.

Wow... I'd really like to see those side-by-side with a similar style of "real" Uggs.  I had never looked at the cost of Uggs before.  I didn't realize how spendy they were.  And then Costco has these...  ???

Confession.  Even though I moved here from Colorado, I've never been on board the Ugg train.  I just don't think they look good on anyone.  I get that they are cozy and comfy.  And I'm all for that.  I just still can't bring myself to own a pair.

How about crocs?  You  could have bought a pair of those and made the surgery unnecessary.

This literally had me laughing out loud.

I mean, I'm not one to talk.  I basically live in pajamas with baby puke on me.  But I really don't like Ugg's.  I'm happy that they make other women happy and feel good.  Just not going to see them on me.

And I've always hated Crocs too.  But I see the appeal as a parent for my kids to own Crocs!

Forget about fashion, Crocs don't look comfortable to me.  They must just not be for my long, narrow feet, but to me they look like hard cages that my feet would slide around in all day.  And they're plastic/rubber, right?  Don't they get really sweaty?

I tend to think they indicate that the owner lives in like a Yurt or something, but the Daughter loves 'em, so....  ;)

I can assure you that in Colorado the likelihood is that the owner lives in a large, multi-million dollar mansion!

I never wanted a pair ever, especially after watching girl after girl after girl fall down while wearing them at the X-Games in Aspen.
Then my boss gifted me a pair for Christmas... and I had to wear them into the office at least once to be nice.
Mine were black, still ugly, but damn are they toasty! My ice cube feet stayed warm in them! So I wore them around the house until Lily attempted to eat them. Haha.
The usual. American girl meets British guy. They fall into like, then into love. Then there was the big decision. The American traveled across the pond to join the Brit. And life was never the same again.

I don't have any but they look great for wearing around the house, like giant slippers!  ;D
